I remember when on Glee, Kurt sang  " A House Is Not A Home" I became a bit obsessed with it - it was my favourite song for weeks. A true talent, RIP Hal David xx

Oooooooooh I enjoyed that. I've never watched Glee - perhaps I'll give it a go.

Its definitely worth catching Soozy - a feelgood show. Some great one liners with toe tapping tunes interspersed. Though I haven't seen later episodes since it moved to Sky *shakes fist at Murdoch*

A good few years ago I finally bought a 4 CD box set of Burt Bacharach and Hal David songs, a best of and more if you like. There are some fantastic tunes on there. Below I have picked two of my favourites, Wives and Lovers and The Look of Love. The version of The Look of Love is one by Isaac Hayes, which was a nice surprise when I listened to a CD single of his. It's a great version of the song coming in at 11:15.

We have certainly lost a talented lyricist.

I now know what I want for my Birthday

I never heard that Isaac Hayes version before, its got a nice 70's soulful feel to it and I like the extra instrumentation

Yellow Rose, Although it's a bit before my time, I do agree there is some wonderful music.

Noseyrosie, I love the slow deliberate feel to the IH version. He has a great voice.  It was a lucky find for me having bought one of his cd singles for another tune. It's one of the tunes in my playlist on YouTube.

EC for me, even though there was music before my time - not that Hal/Bacharach were lol I just love music of any era that for my ears was so easy and appreciative to listen to from the musical content, whether lyrics or musical accompaniament from an orchestra or professional musicians hired. Music has always been a real passion of mine. I'm sometimes reminded me of the quote by  Nietzsche that "life without music is a mistake" So true for me.

Yellow Rose, I have to say me too when it comes to music and I totally agree that you can find and enjoy music from any era. I have an extremely wide taste in music, I'm always searching out and listening to music from all areas of music and across many decades.

I guess having a collection approaching 5000 LP's, CD's, 7" and CD Singles tells it's own story (yes I have a problem !!!).

Looking at the last ten album's I bought, they were by: The Cinematic Orchestra, David Sylvian, Tangerine Dream, The Fall, John Barry, Jerry Goldsmith, Ludovico Einaudi, I Monster, This Mortal Coil and Kate Bush.

I think it might have been either Kim Deal or Tanya Donnelly (The Breeders) that once said in an interview "Music is my Life", I should have that as my motto. I hardly go a day without listening to some music.

Which Reminds me, I need to place an order for the Biosphere album N-Plants.

One of the best concerts I've ever been to was when I took my mum to watch Dionne Warwick at the Tower of London. She did her best known Bacharach and David songs (she fell out with Bacharach for years but they'd made up by then) and I still think she's one of the best interpreters of their music and lyrics. I can still hear my mum barking 'wo wo wo wo wo wo wo wo' right in my ear during San Jose
