And another gold

Apparently the sailing is a guaranteed Gold, but it won't be official until the competition finishes on Tuesday.

However: we're definitely going to get both Gold and Silver tonight in the Men's Cycling Sprint final, and Murray's just starting in the Tennis final, so he's definitely going to get at least Silver too!

With so many GB wins in quick succession, Clare Balding was commenting that they were having difficulty keeping the medal table up-to-date, and Sir Chris Hoy immediately chipped-in with "Nice problem to have!"

After starting the competition with a hole in one, Justin Rose has won the golfing gold!

But boy: was it tense on the final hole!

And what a great final round by the American Matt Kuchar for the bronze!

It was properly exciting  So delighted for Justin Rose too. He seems such a genuinely nice guy.

The one piece of news from the Olympics which is worth reading by everyone including anyone who has zero interest in sport.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-37102355

It's what the Olympics is really about. The famous quote from Pierre de Coubertin, regarded as the man who started the modern Olympics:
"The important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win, but to take part; the important thing in Life is not triumph, but the struggle; the essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well. To spread these principles is to build up a strong and more valiant and, above all, more scrupulous and more generous humanity,"

Thanks for posting this, El Loro. With some of the stories coming out of Rio being - let's just say - not in the Olympic spirit, it's great  to see one that so clearly is.

BTW, it turns out that D'Agostino did the last four laps with a torn ACL (anterior cruciate knee ligament).

Needless to say, she won't be competing tomorrow...

No place in the Olympics for animals for me. No dig Fluffs - just don't sit right

Hope you've another jaunt lined up

Donks, you really can't make a horse do what it doesn't want to do

The issue I have is dogs in dog shows and (other animals) doing tricks and stuff like that. They're not bred for that and it's unnatural
