As you say, 2016 will not be a memorable year for you and your family, however, it could turn out to be should both your parents come through it 

As has already been said, don't forget to look after yourself too

I'm glad your mum has shown some improvement and I'm sure she really appreciates all you are doing for her. 

It sounds like your dad's odds are good, so best wishes to him for a full recovery.

When the chips are down, some people step up to the plate - and you have!

Take good care of yourself and pop in whenever you can.

I think most posts above have said everything I could write and I concur with them. It sounds like you have been going through a real tough time. My hopes are for things to improve for you and your parents soon.

It sounds like you are doing the best for your parents, well done on you.

The last few months have been a rollercoaster I could hardly have imagined. But then I guess we all have stories to tell - few are spared harsh reality.

As my Mum is recovering well I feel comfortable in sharing one moment that was quite possibly the lowest point. She had been so confused, saying bizarre things and not getting any better - I was terrified and desperate to help her remember things. I was trying to explain that she couldn't remember anything and must try her best to get better, Mum looked at me and said,

"The Mum you knew has gone - now you've got me".

Sadly my Dad still has his to come . . .

Oh heck! I'd have been in pieces if my mum had said that to me, after her big operation.

At the time they were talking about putting my Mum in a home but my sister said she would help look after her.

It was such a low point - I was so scared.

Watching her recover is like a lottery win

Awww Renton .....I totally understand that  ....but glad you feel able to pop in and that things are improving for your  mum Never thought I'd say it but I've missed your * hope that helps * Hang in there
