Rebekah Brooks has resigned from her post as chief executive of News International following the News of the World phone hacking scandal.
In a statement, she said: "As you can imagine recent times have been tough.
"I now need to concentrate on correcting the distortions and rebutting the allegations about my record as a journalist, an editor and executive.
"My resignation makes it possible for me to have the freedom and the time to give my full co-operation to all the current and future inquiries, the police investigations and the CMS appearance."

Shiteing through the eye of a needle! Take all the time you need to 'clear' your name Rebekah
Just watched one of her fellow Journo's talking about her on this morning gushing and saying how great she was as a journalist and how honest etc.. she was so great she apparently hadn't a clue what was going on under her on a Paper she was supposed to be editor of.. She should have been sacked for being a cack Boss if that was the case
Sorry but and
She was 'anging by a fred.
Not surprised really seeing as its come out about the hacking of the victims of 9/11.
The Americans will not take kindly to the hacking.
Are the Met still recruiting?
Although we KNOW she will be OK... Murdoch will see to that!

I know! Can't believe how much these twats back each other up. They are all worse than any effing criminals!
If the stupid bitch had done this 9 days ago she would have saved over 200 people's jobs.
But at least the Sun on Sunday will be able to launch now (hopefully reinstating those who were made redundant), and if Murdoch manages to sell the UK press division of News Corp like he wants to then it'll make the whole fire fizzle out a bit. Not. But he can dream
Good riddance.
I am not immature, but...
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I'm finding some of the recent descriptions of her hilarious. For years, everyone in the business who doesn't work for her, or does but is able to speak in private, has described her as a poor journalist and businesswoman. However they would also agree that her one great ability was networking. That was her real value to Murdoch: her ability to smooze with Prime Ministers and the like.
No one's in the public eye's going to go anywhere near her now (or at least they won't be seen anywhere near her), so her usefulness (at least in the short term) is rather limited...

I forgot until someone reminded me that she was married to Ross Kemp and gave him a slap or two.

She makes me sick. She is a hard faced surly harridan. If she cared one jot about all the people that have been hurt, then she would have resigned long ago.
As for Murdoch meeting Millie's family....! If I were the family I'd be telling him where to go.
And Cameron having dinner with her? All right I can accept that it wasn't with her exactly, it was her husband, but he should have known that while the government was considering the BskyB takeover, getting that close to anyone who had something to do with it, was not a good move.

She was arrested but released without charge. The amusing thing was that she was running a campaign against domestic violence in the Sun at the time...
Details are still fairly sketchy, but it doesn't sound like her marriage to Kemp was all that easy-going. It's certainly interesting that she never took the name "Kemp", but has taken the name "Brooks" from her second marriage.
Still: at least Ross got to do a number of TV shows for Sky...

Totally agree! And I don't even know what a harridan is!
