If you've got the time, I would recommend having a trawl through the comments on her YouTube entry. They've obviously got so fed up with the thousands (and I mean thousands) of negative comments, that they're just flagging them en masse as spam. A few moments checking confirms that virtually none of them are spam - just criticism she doesn't like and presumably wasn't expecting. I can't see any postive remarks in there.

Rebecca has apparently said she feels like she's being "cyber-bullied" by all the attention.
Well, it was you're decision to post it on YouTube in the first place, dear...

She can't sing!
One of those harsh strangulated voices fashionable these days in so many young American women. From the back of the throat. An awful sound.
Not an ounce of feeling.

It's just auto-tuned to buggery.  So aye, I guess she can't hold a note.

What gets me is that a thirteen year old is getting all the criticism, instead of the two grown men who wrote it (and its dreadful lyrics) and produced it.
TBF, a great deal of the criticism has been of the lyrics and production - it's just that it's Rebecca Black's name up front on the YouTube entry, so obviously she's going to be the figurehead - which is presumably what she originally wanted. Unfortunately it also makes her the lightning rod for all the criticism that she presumably didn't want or expect..

I know this one.  LOL!

Have to admit that I didn't know that it was written by someone else... i thought it was just something that a kid had written and recorded for a laugh.  I can't BELIEVE that anyone over twelve/thirteen wrote this.............It is a really awful song LOL, but the hate and vitriol towards her on the internet (facebook and twitter etc,) is pathetic.  She is just a kid FFS.

She's thirteen.

She is, but the people really responsible for this aren't, and some of them appear to be very calculating...

The more I'm finding out about this and the way the Ark Music Factory works, the more I feel there's a faintly unpleasant story behind this. Although they claim to be a "musical collective" and an indie record label, in reality they seem to be more like a vanity publishing company. Parents, such as Rebecca's, pay AMF to write and record a music video for their little darlings.

You see that rapper who appears in the car near the end of the video? That's Patrice "Pato" Wilson, and he appears in virtually all of AMF's productions. Now here's the thing: Patrice is not only the record's producer; he's the co-owner of AMF. Even more interestingly, if you go onto AMF's artist list pages, you'll see that he has his own entry (you can't miss it - he's virtually the only non-female and non-white "artist" on there).

Putting on my cynical cap here: this all looks like an attempt by a failed musician to try to restart his career on the backs of a lot of teenage wannabes, and (and this is the really clever bit) getting the parents of those wannabes to pay for it...

I completely agree and would include her parents too. I have a thirteen year old granddaughter and she would not have the first clue as to what was happening because she is absolutely not streetwise enough that someone might be taking a really bad advantage in case there are a few hundred thousand kids who'd buy it.

She's thirteen.

Welcome to show business.

Seriously, if she puts summat like that out there she can't really expect people - even the f'ckwits - not to react.  Besides, it'll probably be a hit and she'll get lots of cash.  Global opprobrium has hardly hindered that fanny who got a bottle chucked at him has it?

Unbelievably BAD. ("A whole new level of bad," according to none other than Time magazine.) And it's because the song and video raised so many fascinating questions...such as:

Who the heck is this girl? How did she get a record deal? Why is she sitting at a bus stop, if her friends are picking her up in their car? Why is she so indecisive about whether to sit in the front or back seat? If the girl standing to her right is her friend, then is that girl on her left her frenemy? Did the general public REALLY need to be informed that Thursday comes before Friday, or that Sunday comes after Saturday?

She has had her fame IMO on Youtube as being the worst ever record. She should be thankfull and maybe get in the Guiness Book of Records. At least she could still brag about that.

I'd never heard of Rebecca Black until I read this thread: sounds like exploitation of a kid to me, and seeing him make an appearance in the video 'cruising' in his car, just added to my feeling of extreme discomfort with it
