What a lovely friend And a lovely explanation.
i honestly thought that dyslexia was a problem where reading and writing was made difficult for the sufferer. I wasnt aware that it was a problem of how to make sense of situations i thought that was Aspergers syndrome. My nephew is dyslexic but he doesnt need to rationalise and a problem.
Awwwwww..
Darlo - I have got an application to write, haha! I will be on this site for hours.

I agree entirely. Freddie hasn't got a bad bone in his body and it's the others lack of empathy, sympathy, patience and intelligence that make them dislike him. In short, it's their problem NOT HIS!

His friend seems lovely but what has dyslexia got to do with how Freddie thinks and why write this now, my Grandson has dyslexia it dosent affect his thinking,I think its more of a case he sees freddies vale slipping
What a wonderful friend. I`m moved to tears.
Freddie`s Father`s story about him was very moving too.

That`s quite a cruel thing to say Marguerita.
I think you should maybe read up more about the severe dyslexia that Freddie suffers from and how it effects the thinking pattern.

mmm and why did he make such an issue at the beginning of having to get to bed early as he couldnt function without enough sleep, and now he rarely goes to bed before 3am and seems fine?quote:Originally posted by Marguerita:

My daughter is dyslexic by the way
These cynical views are quite upsetting.
I am sorry and offended you would call me cruel for having an opinionquote:Originally posted by Scotty:quote:Originally posted by Marguerita:

I've said it elsewhere..but dyslexia alone will not affect his comprehension or expressive language.
Maybe he has other issues going on..or maybe thats just Freddies idiosyncracies.
Even severe dyslexics can be highly articulate.

I`m sorry Marguerita but I do think your opinion was a bit offhand and cynical. You`re entitled to it though, as I am mine. Lets leave it at that.
I hope we`re still pals.
Knowing one dyslexic person does not mean one knows them all.
A quick look on Google shows there are many different forms (including how thought processes are affected.)
I agree with Scotty, the cynicism is disappointing.
But thanks for posting darlo.

I,m sorry if my views sounded cynical, it was purely an observation on Freddies behaviour, which has changed since Bea,s arrival

I know several, ranging from mild to severe. Some have other ongoing conditions that affect their balance,or have ADHD,or Aspergers accompanying it.I'm just saying that dyslexia by itself doesnt affect somebodys capacity to reason. They may develop a speech aphasia as a result of embarrasment from being forced to read out loud, for instance as a child, but generally they're as diverse intellectually as the rest of us and are often better verbally than a lot of non-dyslexics as a strategy to avoid dealing with the written word!!

I dont see Freddie as you do Scotty ,I dont think my post was a bit offhand if it was it was not meant to be ,but you are entitled to your opinion as I am mine ,I would not fall out with any FMs over HMS in a game show next year we could be supporting the same HMquote:Originally posted by Scotty:quote:Originally posted by Marguerita:I am sorry and offended you would call me cruel for having an opinionquote:Originally posted by Scotty:quote:Originally posted by Marguerita:

As pointed out already it affects people in different ways and a friend of mine says hers (tis purely dyslexia she has and nowt else) can get in the way at times when she often needs to articulate the most... particularly in stressful situations..quote:Originally posted by Mazzystar:

In fact she finds it extremely frustrating that she loses her words just when she needs them so much..
AS has also been said in here, to know one dyslexic is not to know them all
Freddie is just so harmless , he has his faults but it's so good that he is overcoming them in there and stood his ground despite all the nastiness he had to put up in the first couple of weeks.
Don't go Marg .

Well. it is clear we can only base our opinions on information we have gleaned and filtered through our common sense, or even prejudices.
It is also obvious that none of us knows enough about Freddie as an individual to offer anything even approaching a definitive understand of his position.
Freddie is as unique as the rest of us, and we are too removed to be "in the know".
So we are stuck with our good old instictive reactions of "like" or "dislike".
Regards

I don't care what his problems are, I just don't like him and wouldn't want to spend any time with him. Marguerita you can have an opinion on any HM you want to, its a forum and we don't all agree.

Oh Marg dont be upset, this always happens when a HM has a disability of some kind, do you remember last year with blind Mikey? I got some stick for trying to get folks to see the person and not the disability . Take care

It's possible Freddie is more relaxed now since he looks upon Bea as someone who likes him without him having to try, don't you think? He's probably let his defences down a little as they have so much in common ( he thinks ).
for Marguerita.
You were only expressing an opinion hon, please
don't feel bad about it.

Yes, but he also should remember how he had the Hms tiptoeing around as he had to sleep, now it is he clomping around at 2or 3am , while others are sleeping, not that i have heard anyone complaining , but i do find that irritatingquote:Originally posted by Bethni:quote:Posted 28 July 2009 02:43 PM Hide Post

Him going to bed at that time is hardly the same as them turning the light on and off for ages, jumping on beds and generally making enough noise to wake the dead. As most of us said at the time, that's what the living space is for, which is where Freddie stays until he goes quietly to bed.
Awww Marg don't feel bad about your opinion , hope you come back later if you've logeed off and see you in the Towers .

I'm also agreeing with you all. I enjoy his unique personality and he seems a really nice person. Every year we have some HM's who are like a clone of a previous HM, I don't remember anyone like Freddie though, viva la difference
