A total of just 1.6 million viewers watched last night’s BBUK final.

After three months it was Helen Wood who won Big Brother 2014 last night, controversially beating Ashleigh Coyle in the final two.

Some 1.5 million viewers watched the marathon finale from 9PM to 10:45PM on Channel 5, with an extra 100,000 catching up on Channel 5+1 later.

Direct Comparisons to last year’s figures are difficult as the previous series saw the final show split into two, but last night’s show was both: The first half last year averaged 2.1 million while the second saw 1.75 million.

Last night’s BB final was down some 500,000 viewers on the launch show back in June.

Overall, this series has averaged around 1.25 million viewers, down around 250,000 viewers on last year’s average nightly figure.

After the final yesterday, almost a million viewers stuck around for the fallout on Bit On The Side.

Elsewhere and The Singer Takes It All continued with 800,000 viewers on Channel 4, as it went up against the BB final.

Big Brother will air again next summer on Channel 5, while CBB begins on Monday night from 9PM.

Personally I think they got a lot more viewers than they deserved.

Maybe people tuned in out of curiosity, expecting boos and a comeuppance for Helen?
