BIG Brother was last night hit by a race row with beauty queen Deanna Uppal convinced that bouncer Chris James does not like her because she is Indian.

The model, 23, claims the wannabe, dubbed Mr  Squeak, has blanked her for most of the 10 days they have spent together in the house.

And after racking her brains for a reason over the snub, she can only think it’s because he might be racist.

She confided her fears in a private late-night chat with pals Luke Anderson and Lydia Louisa.

She said: “Chris hasn’t spoken to me at all and he’s  spoken to everybody  else.  I’ve not done anything for  him to not like me. I’m beginning to  wonder if it’s because... you know? You know what I mean?”

Lydia, 25, nodded and told her: “Yeah.”

So far she has not  complained to BB bosses about Chris’s behaviour, and no action has been taken by telly chiefs.

The bouncer, 21, was last night up for eviction from the Channel 5 show against hunk Arron Lowe, 23.

Before she went into Big Brother, former Miss India UK winner Deana said she had been the victim of  racist taunts in the past.

She said growing up in Middlesbrough was tough, revealing: “I grew up in an area where it was all  English people. I grew up in a small tiny  village where me and my mum were the only Indians.

“All through primary school there was racism, though it was only kids. I think my mum was more upset by racism than me.”

She added: “In high school there were quite a lot of people that didn’t  like me. This was from other  Indian girls so I can’t say this was  racism.”

Does she really expect us to take her seriously?

Does she really believe that the ONLY reason someone might not want anything to do with a person who happens to have different ethnicity is because they're a racist?

The article mentions Lydia nodding in agreement ,that is so unfair to Lydia.I do hope Chris gets a right to reply on BBBOTS .

"Before she went into Big Brother, former Miss India UK winner Deana said she had been the victim of racist taunts in the past."

"She added: “In high school there were quite a lot of people that didn’t  like me. This was from other  Indian girls so I can’t say this was  racism.”

So that means this is what happened then? She was racially abused in the house?

BB seems to have sculpted an argument before we viewers were even able to have an opinion!

Erin luv, where did that post come from, because I suspect this is BB desperate for media coverage already or a bad FB participant. This topic has been done before. Only when the audience has had the opportunity to view what this exchange was about can anyone make that judgement call.

What are you meaning by 'the Indian girls' Sooz?  There are no others in the house.  Are you taking this bit of media reporting to heart. God knows in these days we should know better than to do that.

Basically what that says to me is that (she's effectively saying) it's OK for people of the same race to not like each other as that is a clash of personalities, but if people of different races dislike each other it can ONLY be because of racism.

Nope. It doesn't Sooz. There is no reference to 'the Indian girls'. But I agree, however. She seems not to have been a popular girl at school, even by her own assessment, but importantly, she has been unpopular in the House. This part I can understand. She may well be calling the racism card, but I need to hear it on air and not from The Daily Star.

Am I seeing things or just reading it wrong?

Fair enough Sooz!  It was just the use of the definite article that riled me. But nevertheless, I think we need to realise this is what The Daily Star/C5 are reporting, probably to stir cr*p up.

Complete non-story.

At worst, it's a single, speculative sentence taken out of context. It's rendered irrelevant by later events anyway, with Chris and Deana seen chatting, and then Deana upset that he was evicted.

The whole thing looks like a desperate attempt to manufacture some scandal to help sell the BB "product". A new low even by Daily Star standards...

I agree with this - I think she probably may well have speculated - a lot of things are said in the course of 24 hours - a lot of it is pretty irrelevant and just a passing comment. Looks like it's been picked up and linked to another story/interview from the past where she may have been asked specifically for her views on racism.

The problem with no LF is that an innocent of the cuff comment can be played over and over and linked to other stuff to create a story. I'm loving this BB but .....................................boring as it is to keep banging on about it - we can be so misled and  manipulated with no LF.
