Question about the failed task.

The new housemates failed their task because Freddie and Noirin were not nominated for eviction.
BUT:
With one more nomination each they would have been up for eviction
EVEN THOUGH
the new housemates had not fixed it.
The whole thing was sheer luck.
With another nomination each for Freddie and Noirin the new housemates would have escaped nomination even though they had done nothing whatsoever to fix that outcome?
What a very very silly, pot-luck, random, type of task. (Or do I have it wrong?)
