Think so, it's something about the blood vessels breaking under the skin and causing the bruise I think, and they have to heal.

Glad you were ok though, nothing broken.

Hi Aimee I think it will probably go in time hun, but  from what you said it was a bad bruise, so it is bound to take some time to totally go.

Don't worry Aimee, I had a mahoosive bruise from falling down Mr L mums stairs in me heels in the summer.

It lasted ages and went loads of different shades of colour from black, blue, green to yellow. Eventually it went and I ended up with a sore bit where the bruise was with a red patch.  It took about 2 months to go completely so don't worry.

Think it's pretty normal when you've had really bad bruising Aimee- they can take years to go away!

I've had that for ages, it went eventually !

No sweetie you'd know if you had a blood clot by now, skin is a funny old thing and it will be fine.

If you are really worried though honey go to the docs and put your mind at rest.

You're just like me by the sound of it a worrier!  My mums calls me "the worried well".

thanks everyone, i seem to get more of a worrier the older i get  never had a bruise like this before, it went from my backside to the back of my knee *ouch*

deep tissue bruising can take months to heal

Aimee  -  Arnica is fantastic for helping bruising heal faster.  You can get it in any Health Store.

Aimee if it was a blood clot there would be no sign of it but the pain would be pretty intense. Think it is a blood vessel thingy

Give it time to heal properly, there will be no scar. Any chance of piccies of said bruise.

it probably is a scar, just under the skin (as a bruise is a bleed under the skin)

when i was 5 some git pulled back a tree branch and called my name...then let go. i was bruised for over a month and then had a sort of scar afterwards. that went too though after a while...dont think it even took as long as the bruise but then as i was a kid i'd of probably healed quicker than an adult.

just after that some bugger pushed me off a wall and i landed on my face lol....not many pics of me when i was 5

Same thing happened to me a couple of years ago, the whole of my bottie was black and it took months for the bruising to go completely.  Its perfectly normal, just a hematoma (broken blood vessels under the skin) and it still hurts

I had a fall 18 months ago and bruised my knee very badly and you can still see a faint outline of the bruise so I agree, depending on how bad the bruise, they can take some time to go

i went to the docs about the same thing-i fell down some stairs in jan this year-the doc said its normal (not to fall down stairs!) the bruise can stay for months or even years
