I went to Bescot Market in Walsall last Sunday and there was a van there selling old fashioned sweets and I must have spent nearly a tenner there, they had them all, it was lovely!

My Faves were : coconut mushrooms, aniseed balls, cherry lips, raspberry ruffles, sherbert fountain, midget gems, black jacks, fruit salad, liquorice laces, snakes, peanut brittle.....Hated: rhubarb and custard, coconut tobacco, barley sugars, teacakes

Kola kubes. om thumb drops, cough candy, sarsaparilla tablets, midget gems, bon bons, rhubarb and custards, butterscotch (in the gold wrapper)....ooh loads. I love old fashioned sweets.

Kola Kubes, my faves, along with cream soda kali (sp) or rainbow chrystals with a vimto lolly to dip in it I also used to like the boiled sweet lollies, on a stick that were a whsltle as well

ohh hthere is loads of retro sweet companies online now. they are cool.
i loved cherry lips. pear drops, parma violets, rubarb and custard. those liquorish rolled up things that you unraveled and ate till you got to the chewy bit in the middle.

Cough Candy Twist, Sherbert Lemons, Pear Drops, Lemon Bon-Bons, American Hard Gums . . . *drools*  (but then remembers the ripped-apart-roof-of mouth from sucking on those sweets!  Ouch!)

Going off on a slight tangent I like sherbert dips aswell. When I say like, I'm sure I kept half the workforce in employment. Also LOVED white chocolate fish and chips, cola bottles, hard peanut sweet things (especially the bit in the middle), shoelaces, rhubarb and custard, magic sparkle dust (that used to make your tongue fizz and your head felt like it was popping - think that's what it was called?) Bertie Basset sweets (not liquorice - the other ones) and Disco crisps (which taste rank now)

does anybody remember Tiger nuts and Happeny licorice,there was a brittle spearmint bar,that got realy chewey after you started chewing it, can't remember the name of it.

Oh I remember those mint chewy things!! They were lush!

We have one in town and one in a village near by...infact, we have loads all over the place round these 'ere parts!

My favourites are fizzy fish, I adore them. And maybe Rosy Apples too.

apple tarts were a favourite too  and jelly babies especially the black [ currant ] ones

oh and the boxes of fruit gums shaped like the fruits

I remember once getting half a crown (2 shillings and six pence) of my granddad, and I bought half a pound of Needlers maltona drops, I didn't want to share them with my siblings,so i ATE THEM ALL MYSELF,I didn't get of the toilet for a  fortnight,

I LOVE those, and they're better than ever now they've got 'real fruit juice'

My favs were Rhubarb and Custard but I loved cola cubes (especially when they went gooey) and bon bons too!

Space ships were better years ago too, I tried one the other day and nearly heaved!

I used to love Space Raiders and Tangy Tom crisps too!!!

i loved winter mixture and i loved chewing nuts  thats was what they were called here (laugh) little toffee tings covered in chocolate

Chewing nuts,loved them! Also Uncle Joe's mintballs.

Maybe that was just in Scotland  lucky potatoes doesn't have the same ring to it.

Sweetie tobacco was the dogs.........looked like real tobacco, but was sugary and chewy.

I hated mixed fruit sweets

sugar almonds , mintoes  and the anglo 1 old penny bubble gum
