However rather than having a referendum on Europe, why don't we have a general election and get this lot kicked out.

We are selfish?  dont we hand over millions of pounds every year to them and get nothing in return, other than the usual insults from Germany and France.?

According to UKIP, the Tories and the rich man's press, 'we get nothing in return'.  I think we're pretty adept at insulting France and Germany, to be fair!

The way those countries treat us they deserve some stick, I just wish for us to stay a free country and not be ruled by those we never elected from outside this country.

I understand that sentiment but it's melodrama really.

We have our own government, electoral system, army, Commonwealth, most of the laws that really rule our lives are British, parliament, monarchy, budget, economic policy, treasury, currency, language.  Just about everything that really matters in our lives is controlled in this country. We were even allowed to start an illegal war with George W Bush!

The right's stereotype of a Stalinist centralised Euro dictatorship, doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

The EU wants a European army, flag, Anthem and parliament and of course the dying swan that is The Euro, they want us all in Europe to be tied together like we are one country, thats harldy right wing media talking, thats obvious fact.

Let's be honest, we've been America's bitch for forty years! Where's our autonomy there?

Even if we go down the route of a trading block only, there is still a strong case for pooling resources to protect that trading block.  It's a sensible and common objective.  Not only that, it's a statement of intent against future Russian expansionism.  After WWII, there was little a divided Europe could do to stop Stalin rolling his tanks into the eastern half of Europe.  Now those countries are free democracies within the EU.

The UK Parliament's going nowhere!  Every nation on Earth has a national anthem.

I can't help thinking 'so what', when you gripe about 'the EU flag'.  Big deal!
