Let him buy from new Queenie... at the end of the day... afterwards you could make someone very happy when/if you sell it on again!
(I am loving the image of your hubby road testing prams in the baby equipment shop... am hearing bruuummmm bruuummmm noises)

You have no idea how true that image is
I had the Gracco travel system buggy for my last baby. Is was a great buggy. It came from Ebay aswell - in great condition, like new - like Sheep in a jeep i only paid about 70 quid for the lot. Just got it out for my next baby and it still looks great.

See, it's just so complicated. I'm struggling to find anything that will fit in the boot of my VW Polo. Mamas & Papas have got really bad reviews about chassis collapsing when your out and about and there are reports of babies being dropped in the carrycot on the floor as a result, I like Graco but they are huuuuge, Silver Cross all seem pretty bulky and heavy, Bugaboo are a nightmare to get up and down and cost a fortune. Mothercare chassis are either massive or not suitable for newborns. Phil & Teds are just plain ugly. The Quinny Buzz looks ok as it comes with a carry cot and two separate buggy seats which the baby can grow into, but it's going to cost Β£650.
Crikey Queen - I didn't realise they could be so dangerous - I will start investigating myself!!
I can't believe the price of the new buggies that are about. Considering you only really need it for the first 6 months and then change to a stroller.
QueenO....I really do stress that you don't buy one of those travel systems. I bought one with my first child and it was a massive nightmare! Cou;dn't fit into some cars boots, hard to fold, too many bits and pieces and I needed a buggy for my baby at 8 months so a huge waste of money too!
2nd child...my sister insisted I get a buggy (you can get them suitable from birth) and I got one from Smyths toys store for about Β£100 and it lasted right up till he was nearly 2! You get the footmuff and raincover and headrest so it really is suitable for tiny babies right up to toddlers.
I tried to persuade my sister and law to just go for the buggy but she wouldn't hear of it and got the big travel system...3 months down the line she got fed up having to get the bus coz the bliddy thing was ginormous so she ended up with a buggy anyway.
It's a waste of money (although they can be nice to look at) to buy one for 6 months then have to go on to a buggy anyway!

I had a beautiful green and white gingham check Silver Cross that my Mammy bought me. Ohhhh I loved it. But it wouldn't fit in the car I can't drive so it didn't bother me much.
When she turned 6 months though she was far too nosey to be facing me so we got her a Graco Mirage Miami and it's absolutely brilliant. I got a deal on an ebay shop (online4babies) It was brand new , had matching changing bag , raincover and matching cosytoes included , couriered to my door and was under Β£100

Sorry havent read it all so no idea if you have finished the pram convo- but...
My sister had a bebe confort pram, car seat etc. When the baby is small the car seat fits directly to the frame so it easily fits a polo (thats my car). And now the baby is a toddlr the other bit can still detatch before it goes into the car so can still get into the boot.
Hope it helps.

I had no idea this was such a complicated subject.
my best mate is preggers and she's dragged everyone she knows and some she doesn't, around every feckin baby shop in the south , trying to work out which bits she needs for what, spent at least a month on ebay, looking confused, and has ended up with all this equipemt lodged in my dining room, under the stairs and clogging up the landing.
and it's red, this is very important, apparently..
i've moved out now.
Take it from me...you get all sorts of 'essential' shit when you have your first and end up not using half of it!

she's got things to strap it to her, things to push it round in, things for it to be jiggled about in and things to be strapped in the car , for when it travels and things for it to spend the night in, an d all in red, which is very important, so i'm told.
SHe'll never use them all!!

Noooooooooooo.....do they put dolls in it...or a puppy?
must have i've never looked that closely it's difficult when you're running away.
We have a quinny buzz, it's magic & fits in my tiny car boot
...it was a gift mind you, tis expensive. But worth it so far (it is wide wheeled so getting through some shop doors and aisles can be tight and wouldn't work on public transport). I have a ka and the back wheels just pop on & off (not the ka, the pram lol) and the base goes in the boot but no space for owt else. The car seat obv can clip on the base but mostly we use the dreami carrycot as she's only 8 wks old still, she sleeps in the carrycot for daytime naps too it can be used instead of a moses basket so thats a tiny bit of cash saved. Ours cost less than you quoted for the lot-dreami, car seat, 4 wheel base as we went to a local place that promised price matches, or try kiddicare online they are usually pretty good. Most of all, try them all out in person and see what you think. The quinny has an adjustable handle if you or your partner is quite tall & we all love the hydraulic thingy when you put the base up (tho putting it down at first is hard work & would be difficult exp if you'd just had a c section!)
