I had no idea this was such a complicated subject.

Four kids and never had one - simple!
With my first baby i had an old-fashioned pram with suspension that is probabley still going strong 29 years later. With the next one i had a 3in1 pram, buggy carry cot thing that was always breaking.
ah... there are some funky ones about now!
Is like getting a bike Queenie.. you have to go to the pram shops and run around the shop trying a few out (just like riding a bike round Halfords!)

I had the 3 in 1 silver cross one.
Didn't have a problem with it. When ickle babies slept in proper carrycot thing.

That's what I had too, DPGT!!
When we lived in Manchester our garage was broken into and the ********s stole it.
I think I might like the Quinny travel system but it's such a lot of money. Anyone got any experience of them?
My friend spent weeks choosing and went with the Quinny. She kept getting puncture though, and it drove her insane. She ended up buying a buggy as soon as he was 6 months.

I had a Quinny Zapp buggy
Not much use for tiny babies, but great for air travel and stuff... and the only thing that would fit into the back of a Mini

my sister hated her quinny so much she sold it, she is due to have another baby mid june and i think she has bought one from mothercare, my advice is to make sure you buy one with the solid tyres not inflatable i had a 3 wheeler and had about 5 punctures in the 1st 6 months which was a nightmare.
Quinny sounds so wrong!!
and to then say my sister hated her quinny...
am pmsl... (I may be being really childish.. I blame it on lack of sleep)!

does sound dodgy
jube... your avatar makes me feel bad, I keep wanting to tell you that you can stop bowing now
See, it's just so complicated. I'm struggling to find anything that will fit in the boot of my VW Polo. Mamas & Papas have got really bad reviews about chassis collapsing when your out and about and there are reports of babies being dropped in the carrycot on the floor as a result, I like Graco but they are huuuuge, Silver Cross all seem pretty bulky and heavy, Bugaboo are a nightmare to get up and down and cost a fortune. Mothercare chassis are either massive or not suitable for newborns. Phil & Teds are just plain ugly. The Quinny Buzz looks ok as it comes with a carry cot and two separate buggy seats which the baby can grow into, but it's going to cost ÂĢ650.
Hi Queeny
How you getting on i got the Graco travel system it was on sale and i've been advised not spend loads as they can be a waste of money.

Yes tbh dismantling the thing (the silver cross) and putting it in the car didn't happen often.
If I was visiting friends.. then my babies would be carted around in their car seats... like a shopping basket baby.
Tended to walk everywhere else... and get a babysitter when I went to town.
As they got a little older... I got a buggy!

Don't feel bad, just pretend she's exercising
I will add, that I def got my money's worth out of the big silver cross thingy... but then I was walking my elder child to school and back everyday.
Depends what you're planning on doing when your baby is v little... and then a bit bigger?

(Oh, and you need a degree in engineering to get the rain cover or parasol on!)

Hi Shizzle
How are you doing hun? Not long to go now til mini-Shizz is here eh?
I like the Graco systems. I saw one yesterday in Babies R Us and it looked better equipped than my bliddy car, with cup holders and stuff I think they'd be a problem for me to get into my little car though. I've only got a Polo and the boot is tiny. At the moment the Quinny looks like the best bet, I just wish it was about ÂĢ300 cheaper.
I bought brand new for my son and my daughter and can honestly say after a few months I wanted to change my pram. So this time I thought EBAY for a bargain.
I got the Graco Deluxe Travel System (Manhatten Design) off a very careful owner on ebay. I paid ÂĢ76.00 instead of over ÂĢ400 for the whole lot, Including delivery.
Look out on there is my best advice.

How you doing Sheepy?
I have been looking on Ebay, you're right it is so much better value, but as it's our first I think hubby wants to buy from new.

My daughters the same, she'd had four punctures in as many weeks and hers is a Quinny.

how many weeks are you now?
i know i can't wait i'm being closely monitered at the min cause i had the itching which is caused by too much bile acids so i may be sooner rather than later
baby is already over 6lbs and im only 33 weeks
i think a few shops should let you test them in your car so you can see if it can go in the boot space alternatively check on line sites to compare your prices i really wouldn't spend any more than 300 if you can help it one of my friends had one bought for them can't remember the make but cost over 600 and ended up buying something else a month later

His name is Finn and he's as cute as an ickle bunny
My friend has the graco system, she swears by it and they seem to be better value than the others. If I was buying one, that's deffo the one I'd go for.

6lbs already
I'm 24 weeks now. I have to wait another month before I can finally see the consultant. I'm having really bad pelvic pain whenever I move my legs which I think is SPD though so I might try and see if the midwife will talk to me before that. I'm not going to hold my breath though.

Told ya it was a rooode word!
Queenie... what I didn't say earlier (cos I was a bit embarrassed) was that I bought my silver cross 3 in 1 second hand also (from one careful owner, advertised in the local paper... paid well under a hundred pounds).
Hope everything with the bump is ok x

Aww Ditty No need to be embarrassed about buying second hand, I'd call that sensible and tbh I'm inclined to buy from Ebay myself. I honestly can't see the point of spending hundreds of squids on a bliddy pram that's only going to be used for a couple of years at most. Hubby's been seduced by the whole 'travel system' thing. The pram is the only thing he's really bothered about, I'm more interested in the cute stuff. That's the only reason I'm entertaining the Quinny idea really, it's his way of being involved.
Queenie... I know its stupid of me to feel that way.... a kick back from when I was a single mum I think.
TBH I think you should let hubby get all excited with the baby technical equipment (he bought it.. he can assemble/dissassemble it).
Also.. he'll pick one he doesn't feel embarrassed to push along the road.
Hey, even I'm getting excited by a 'travel system'. I wish them three wheeler jobs had been about when I had mine though... they look fun!
