True El Loro, and I am now looking into opening a new ISA with just a small amount, and transferring my old isa savings into it. It offers a preferential rate for 12 months, but even after then it doesn't drop to anywhere near as low as the 0.1% that I was getting from the Santander one.

I know I shouldn't be liverbird, but I'm angry at them, as much as myself. What an insult to offer their customers such low interest whilst encouraging new customers with much better rates. Nah, I have only myself to blame.

I feel like this today  I've got toothache and hoping it will go away as I don't like dentists!! one of my cats is ill, and I'm worried about son and the problems he's going through. Have spent the day trying to rise above it all and stay as positive as I can
Golly YR , you certainly have a lot on your plate... Hope everything is better in the morning....

Thanks Baz  I'm having regular salt water gargles for the tooth which is very ouchy, monitoring my cat, and have been listening to son and trying to lift his spirits. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for all concerned

The same programme last night also said it can take up to sex monthas to get your money out these accounts...
I don't know about Santander, but I think normally you can transfer out of ISA accounts as soon as you want, the exception being when it is in on a fixed term basis such as a six month bond. But surely with the fixed term bonds, the interest rate would fixed for the duration of the bond.

PS I don't think you have spotted your little freudian slip

Jenny, if you want to do "outside" smileys you can search for a smileys site, look for an appropriate smiley and click on it. It will then show the website address for that smiley, probably in different formats. Because of this, so as to try to keep in as simple as possible, select any one of these, then press Ctrl-C to copy it. Come back to your post reply screen and position your pointer to where you want to put the image. Click on the little tree icon above (7th from the right end) to get the insert image icon. When the insert image little screen appears, go to the first line Image URL and press Ctrl-V. This copies the whole of the address you copied to that line. Now because the beginning and the end of that address will probably have some gibberish at the beginning and the end you need to get rid of the gibberish. You want to delete the gibberish at the beginning up to but not including the http. If there is a quote mark before the http, delete that as well. So it should now start http. So go to the end of the line and look out for normally gif. Get rid of everything to the right of that so it ends with gif. When you press tab, you should see the image appearing below. If it doesn't then something has gone wrong and you made need to redo this. Once you can see the image, press Insert, and there you are.

Of course, you can use an image as a smiley. Typically, once you have found an image, after selecting it, right click on it and look for copy image location in the options. This will automatically copy the image location for you. Come back to the post reply screen and proceed as above. However you shouldn't need to delete any gibberish on the Image URL line. The image should appear once you tab out of that line.

Hope that helps.

Well done to stoory and Jenny - may many happy smiley events occur for you in the future.

Blizzie, you are right. It looks as if the gibberish at the front and end does vanish on posting, but presumably only if you select the Forum BB code. I haven't tried this on other smiley sites, and because there seem to be a variety of choices of format, I think my method although longer is less prone to error for those who are not used to copying images etc from sites.
