Sorry but the screen is not slightly different, it is very different, different print, layout, no left hand margin, no sigs on posts, prehaps minor things to some, but a lot of people who are not techincally minded spent a lot of time and trouble to do them.

No being able to click on the last person who has posted on the thread you are reading, you have to look in the right hand margin, small lettering, which some of our FM's could struggle with.

If GaGaJoyJoy wanted to provide a intergrated system, then what was stopping them adding to this forum, I thought as did many others that the American posters would be joining our boards, not migrating across to a completely strange, not particularly well laid out board when the forum here is popular, well used and most importantly easy to use.

I am using the board, getting used to it, but that doesn't mean that I am blindly following what others are saying, that is why I haven't made much comment until now, I wanted to give it a go and see how the glitches ironed out.

Well frankly I'm still not that impressed and think that it is a backward move, I've registered and using certain facilities on the board, and will certainly give the forum a fair chance, but I do seriously think FM's will leave once it is transferred, not because it is not exactly what they want, because they will have problems with it. Also reading some of the Groupee comments, I don't think they are over impressed either.

And as to the right hand margin, I didn't even see one because it would have meant me scrolling right across the page because of my PC setting for my poor eyesight, and if the writing is small then it would be a waste of time me doing this anyway.

No wonder I couldn't find my one and only post in the support forum over there.

BB if you can navigate your way across again at anytime, I have put in a request for being a buddy of yours, I'll be only too glad to hold your hand across there and give you any help I can (although I'm struggling myself), but getting better.

I just can't understand why this is happening. I have been using the internet for well over 10 years, and during that time I have been on a number of message boards designed in the good old days, and I have used a number of different forums. But this one beats the lot for it's clumsy, crass and quite frankly stupid layout. This is a huge step back in time by the owners and tbh even the plain old message boards are far, far better and more user-friendly than the black cloud current layout.

I didn't understand why some folk were having so much trouble - until I tried it myself. And I am an oldtimer when it comes to registering on the internet. This black cloud place is in a completely different league or should I say timewarp to anything else out there.

I'm registered on DS, I hated it at first but now love it, at least I know where I've posted, a little arrow goes in the envelope, I can click the last poster and get straight in, I can quote a thread without all that copy & paste horlicks, you can blog if you like, I haven't bothered though on DS, you have private PM's. The only downfall on DS is they don't have our smilies or our small community and basically you are lost amongst 320,000 FM's.

That's just how a layout of how the new format will be. Once we are there,all of our OP front page and everything will be as it is here but with the new format " layout" as is shown there. Takes a bit of getting used to but hey- go with the flow, give it a try when we move. Took me ages to fathom out the place and i am 50+ If this is to be our new home then give it a try. Like i said, where else is there that supports this number of members that is active 24/7??? Plus there are loads of Yanks reg with LC that we could chat with. Some FMs have already made friends with "Lou" from Texas Not mentioning any names " Ducky" I will pay for this.

I did ask as on the control page, there is a drop down menu which now has different colours you can have your personal pages in, I asked if the current format could somehow be incorporated into that drop down menu and was told no, surely in this day and age with computer systems this would not be a difficult undertaking and would also give more confidence as people could start off with what they know and then change when they felt comfortable and knew what they were doing. Sadly this option is not provided and we are in our last week here.

Oh well, I shall moan no more, keep trying at the new forum and hopefully it will become easier to use, but somehow I doubt it.

Once we are ther maybe we can influence the admins to our wishes. But for now we have to either move or be left behind. I know it's a bummer for some but hey,we need to keep together as friends on here. We should stick together and help everyone get over there. Anyone with probs making the move can PM me and i will try to help as best i can. Just want us all to get there and we can moan and try to get change after.

i like this forum how it is now, like everyone else, but the gaga peeps have wanted to expand and have been planning to do so for some time, before they rescued us.

I don't think many folk have a prob with the moving as such, just that it is not particularly user friendly. We are used to this format for a forum. It works for most of us and the one "over there", isn't as good as this. Nevertheless, I am sure we will get used to it and we have people like you to help us

There's nothing old-fashioned about this forum. You are perfectly correct Squiggle. It's different to the phPbb forums as it's more basic but that can often be a good thing.

The sorry excuse for a forum that they currently have in place on the black cloud website is quite simply awfy! It's very sad but I think that changing the format of this community will see a steady trickle of members disappearing over the next few weeks and months and eventually the community will die a death. It's inevitable unless something is done to keep the community in it's present format. I've seen this happen over the years on other large communities.

I think you are right *BB* and I do wonder whether this is a subtle way to have us gradually ebb away. I don't see a solution because the solution that brilliant Bov found us before has led to this and so although Eve Communities looks perfect (being the site that hosted our original community anyway) we can't stop them dumping us in their 'improved flagship section'. And sorry to all those who will say that I am being terribly ungrateful, I don't mean to be but I also don't want us to be drifting off in dribs and drabs until there is nothing left.

Yes that screen setting is a problem for me too. My current screen settings work fine for everything including this forum if I change them then everything else on the monitor is too small for every other application I use.
