I have noticed in recent years that in my area of South Yorkshire many people say
"school" to rhyme with "cruel". Phonetically it might be 'skual'.
All my life I've said "school" to rhyme with "tool".
So where has this pronunciation of "skooal" come from.
Is it particular to my area, or does it happen in other parts of the country?
