there is a glimmer of hope... she feels just slightly better today...
though I haven't had a look at her throat ... PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME LOOK AT HER THROAT!!

She made me look (she carries her little throat torch around with her!!)...
It looks loads worse
but she is feeling slightly better, so maybe the penicillin are actually doing some good

The old saying 'things have to get worse before they get better'.
Look at me posting before 9am - you can tell I've got work going on in the house .
Hope things continue to improve.
Some smoothies for Ickle.

Great news
My niece has humungous tonsils that practically meet at the back of her throat. They won't remove them however, because she has asthma and they are pretty loathe to put her under a general knockout.I think they count how many infections you get in 6 months etc before considering an op to remove them. She just gets antibiotics if they get really bad.
I had my tonsils and adenoids out when I was about five. I used to get tosilitis a lot but - I think it was the 'in' thing in those days. As I grew up into teens I used to get dreadful chest infections every winter - my doc said it was cos the tonsils are the first line of defence. I've kind of grown out of it now.
Am home from work & she definitely looks like she might have turned a corner...
there is hope for the exam on the 11th!
Go, Ickle, Go!!
Glad she's feeling a bit better. Got my fingers crossed for the exam!
BTW...I'm still standing by with mushy peas.

I read that out to her..
she did a gaggy noise, & then said "isn't she American, not Northern?"
hahahahaha!!!
I shall tell her off for the geographical stereotyping of mushy pea lovers
lush!
hope ickle feels better soon, whatever she is taking(i havent read the whole thread) if she can take soluable solphadine (sp) gargle some of that and swallow....tastes pretty vile, but helped me once. I couldnt swallow pills, was on liquid paracetamol the solphadine really helped.
I can probably appreciate them more because I'm American. Although...I don't have to share my mushy peas with anyone over here...so maybe it IS just me.

She is on the soluble solphadine (well the generic version - cocodamol).. & yeah I have begged her to gargle with them, but she refuses... she insists that gargling is impossible as it makes her feel like she is choking

or cos you have a really strange mushy pea fetish

Is THAT it! That explains the split pea soup, then, doesn't it?

Well at least that can put your mind at rest
If she's talking and up out of bed, the anti-biotics must be kicking in. I always say 3rd day of taking them is when you start feeling better.

Nothing wrong with a mushy pea fetish, nothing at all.

You, too, Cinds?

Lori, I love them. I sometimes eat a bowl full of them on their own with gravy. AND I love pea and ham soup, I often make my own, sometimes it comes out so thick the only way to eat it is by scooping it up on warm home made bread. *drools*
Me, too! I ate a whole can for lunch, once. Just the peas. Nothing else.
And I love split pea and ham soup...the thicker the better!
We might have to start a support group.
And now I'm craving mushy peas, and I used my last can last week.
you two are sick!
Sicker than Ickle in fact
I had a ticket come through at work once....normally fish and chips goes with mushy peas, or garden peas....But this one awkward woman wanted crushed garden peas I dont get why you would want, or need any kind of pea to be mushy she got what she wanted and never bloody ate them anyway!!!
mushy peas are a bit wrong!

Looks like we have successfully hijacked this thread. My work here is done.
Mushy pea smoothie anyone?
I would totally try that, Sooz!
I totally love peas, in every form. However, of late I have been flirting a little with string beans. I feel so ashamed

from manky tonsils to pea love!
It was a first class thread hijack
makes me so proud
Manky tonsils....or mushy peas? I think I'd have to go with the tonsils.

Oh, come ON! You can't mean that!
That's OK, I'll have your share.
And lets be honest here. Mushy peas, once digested, and when a lady is alone, do produce some 'lady trumpets' to be proud of
Hope your feeling better.
She says thank you Erin...
Just to let you all know, the antibiotics seem to be doing the trick, she's a lot better than she was, Englebert is definitely shrinking... and she is able to go back to revising!
