I think he's been brilliant as Poirot and it's a lovely achievement.

I still think of him as Blott though 

 

 

I'll definitely be watching. Agatha Christie has always been my favourite mystery author, after she died I never found another of her calibre. David Suchet has always been the perfect Poirot imo, I'm sure Agatha would have approved of him. It will be emotional for me to watch and realise it's the end of my Poirot as I can't imagine anyone else playing the part as well as he always has. There's only one Poirot, David Suchet.

 

I've recorded the last four Eugine, I thought one weekend I would have a Poirot day, or I'm just putting off watching them because its the last time he'll ever play him 

I don't care much at all for Agatha Christie's books but like the TV versions of Marple and Poirot so will be cranking up the telly tonight for Hercule and his little grey cells' grand finale

Hope this doesn't draw cries of 'quelle horreur' from the assembled throng of Suchet fans but I always preferred Peter Ustinov's 'Death on the Nile' and Albert Finney's 'Murder on the Orient Express' to the later versions.

 

 

 

I still have last weeks one to watch so am behind .. had too much ongoing stuff recording at the same time so have to use On Demand which on Virgin last weeks one runs out today..  I will miss the fabulous Art Decor houses and exotic locations, of which we have had few for the last 4

 

I have also noticed the director seems to have almost freeze framed on the really relevant clues thru each episode this time..  spoilt it a bit as the whole point of Poirot stories was to work out what clues were relevant all by yourself and what were red herrings..

 

I do think Suchet did a fabulous job of Poirot but must admit I was also a Ustinov fan too

I'm out so I'm gonna have to record it but he's probably my favourite ever Poirot so I shall have some hankies ready and have a good cry

This is me too!!!! I keep planning to watch them and then find that I can't bring myself to! I adore Poirot both in book and TV form and am soooo not ready to say Goodbye to him. I think I shall wait until I have the Crimbo tree up and all my twinkly lights around the place, then I will book a Sunday when I will watch the whole lot armed with a vat of tea, some mince pies and a huge box of tissues. I know I am going to blub like a baby because even seeing the glorious David Suchet talking about the end of Poirit on The One Show made me go more than a bit leaky eyed  I have also put a request in to MrB...the Poirot box set for Xmas...BUT he has to wait until there is one with the Last Four included! I'm not sure that I will ever be ready for anyone else to play him...Suchet IS Poirot....I won't half miss him

Mrs B, that's exactly how I feel, I shall be watching sometime over the Christmas holidays. I'll be armed with a bottle of wine and stuffing myself comfort eating to help me cope. Then, hopefully I will settle down with a good read of one of my favorite bumbling detectives  

 

We should synchronise our viewing times so we can watch safe in the knowledge that we are not alone in our misery 

And I am pretty confident that the bumbling one will not be done by this Christmas!! I'm over 14,000 words in and still no murder  and nowhere near as much of the old how's yer father as you would imagine (double ). As soon as I feel it is ready to be seen by anyone other than myself or Van (and even she won't see it for a fair while yet!!), you lot will be the first to know!! 

I love Suchet as Hercule Poirot ........he plays the part so well IMO - really hams it up to just the right level. Looking forward to tonight's episode.

My wife has the complete series on DVD (well up to an episode called Third girl then we ran out of space to put them. That means she has 10 missing episodes including tonights.. (I shall reserve these as potential pressies)

 

We look forward to this last one. Then no doubt she will start watching them from the beginning

Oh dear...I had planned to let her solve this one and maybe a couple of others THEN it all goes a tad pear shaped...she could be almost celibate in this one then ...well, maybe not 

I think you may be surprised by the way it's going...I know I am!! It's not even the tiniest bit slapstick...it may even turn out to be a proper book 

 

 

Nah! I reckon I'll have the bumping off done by the weekend...may be as early as tomorrow if I can drag my butt off of here and get on with it!!!

 

 

 

 

I have read nearly all of Agatha Christie's books and David Suchet comes closest to my idea of Poirot ...I am very sad that tonight will be the last But like others , I'm saving the recording ( together with last weeks ) to watch over Xmas  

To me, David Suchet is Poirot and I am so sad that tonight is the final episode.  I will need to brace myself to watch it - as others have said, I might save it until Christmas.

Well he got his man, poor old Poirot, what a way to end it

 

I don't want to go into spoiler territory out of respect for other FMs who will be watching it at a later date, but yes: a very fitting end IMO. Great performances from David Suchet and Hugh Fraser, and a lovely little in-joke regarding that moustache.

 

For those watching over Christmas: make sure you've a glass of brandy and a box of tissues to hand...

 

 

I don't think I have ever seen an episode of the programme, although I am aware of Mr Suchet's role.

 

 

 

 

 

I watched with mixed emotions, enjoyment of watching great acting and great production, as always by all involved, and sadness that Poirot is no more, for me anyway even if in the future they find another actor. Also while watching I had moments of reminiscing on all the many many happy hours I had reading Christie's books, I wish I'd kept them all. Merci David, excellente

 

 

Well I duly cranked up the telly for this last offering but, by the end, rather wished I hadn't bothered.

 

Suchet's performance was fine but I just found the plot and the ending rather ridiculous. 

 

I did need tissues but they were to mop up tears of laughter.

 

Disappointing end but that's just my take on it.

We were looking forward to this. Two hour progs are quite handy fillers for nights like tonight. However we could only manage thirty minutes of the first one. Daft chess related electrocution start and poor acting.

Ooo I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought that - I found it all a bit of an anti-climax although I thought David and the chap who plays Hastings fabulous and their acting up to the usual superb standard - the plot was just meh! 

 

loved the moustache episode though   I reckon it should get a BAFTA

OMG , I'd forgotten about that. He played Poirot absolutely brilliant though, down to the last scene.
