See my post above, Brummy - really, it's like the difference between say a Brumy accent and Scouse accent.

Thank you! I have been emming and aghing about posting..but there's nothing natural in her voice? Every Scottish-ness (if you'll forgive the bad terminology) is a bit too overstated? I don't know a single Scot who says... dinnae/ betch *screams*/ cannae etc sooooooo much?

Wy does everyone think she's from Glasgow? She's not. I wish she was, but sadly she's not. The accent isn't put on either unfortunately.

Karly's accent is exactly how people from her part of Fife speak, its not exaggerated or put on. Its very different from a Glasgow accent.

I'd like to think I don't sound so common, but unfortunately if I was on telly I'd probably sound just like her! It's a Fife accent - hugely different from Glaswegian. Lots of different accents in Scotland, Dundonian, Aberdonian, Highland, Borders... all very different (to a Scot anyway!)

I thought she was very broad Glaswegian, but Scotty put me right. Big Grin Having said that, I lived in Fife for years and I don't remember anybody being that broad. I love Scotland and it's accents, but I can't stand hers. Blush

If I remember rightly though Cologne, you lived Cupar way? Sounds snobby, but they're a bit more 'refined' up that way! Wink Karly sounds exactly like any one of bunch of girls her age out on the razz on a Saturday night. I don't do the out on the razz much any more but I'm seriously considering elocution lessons!
