I wasn't patronising him, I was just covering myself for anyone who thought I was being callous - in this day and age some people will call you for saying anything negative about someone in a minority group!!
I don't think you would have started a thread saying "Please don't take this the wrong way but Nathan is boring" would you?

And for the bolded bit, no.  If you said you didn't like him because of his disability then people rightly would have called you.

Moomin, you're cool, understand exactly what you are saying I haven't seen him do anything contentious, funny or anything at all really. He's just there.

But my post might be misconstrued as saying he was a waste of a housemate and boring because he can't run around and join in things in quite the same way as the other housemates.

You're totally spot on here

I'm glad someone else has said this as I have been feeling the same but was afraid to post it for exactly the same reasons as you - and this is coming from a disabled person.

The most interesting thing he does is snore  although to be fair to him he does help with the household chores and takes as active a part as he can with all the tasks.  More than some housemates I won't mention!  I also understand from his point of view how tiring moving around might be and with pain added on top he would get tired easily so would need to sit more.

but as a person I think he's naturally boring and I would suspect he was like this prior to the dreadful injuries he suffered.  His whole life seems to have revolved around the army which obviously played a big part in his life.  What happened to him is both dreadful but equally fascinating but once you've heard it there's nothing else left to say.  He doesn't seem to want to engage actively in any of the banter for whatever reason and that's what makes him a boring housemate in my eyes

I hope no one is offended with what I've said as most of what I say these days seem to be misconstrued

Pengy as with Moomin all I can say is there is absolutely no offence taken. I know how careful you have to be when discussing disability, race etc.
I absolutely 100% agree with your assessment of Steve. I'm hoping that in time with gobby, minging Shabby out of the way he may show a bit more personality.

I think everyone on here can rest assured that they're pretty cool when it comes to talking about minority groups...I was called a spaz, a retard and a joey the other day because I happen to support the Asperger's Syndrome FB page (the twatter thought I was a sufferer too, which I'm not, but I told him I was more than happy to let him think I was)...now THAT'S what you call disablist

Back to the main point of the thread...yeah Steve does seem like a bit of a boring bugger..maybe he'll come out of his shell given half the chance, or a gag for Scabby, whichever comes first
