Well actually it's not all.....
I call my son "Duds" because when he was a toddler he couldn't pronounce his name properly and used to call himself "Dud Doo Cup". We've called him it ever since (much to his horror , he's nearly 20 now ), but it's gradually evolved over the years from "Dud Doo" to "Dudsy" to "Duds".
He has always been very worried that people would assume his name was Dudley.....and Baz finally confirmed all his deepest darkest fears the other day by falling into that very trap.
(she was all surprised when I suddenly called him by his real name.... and assumed I had another child I'd never mentioned once in the last 4 years. *points and laughs at Baz* )
ANYWAY!!!
Do you have any daft nicknames for your kids that they hate?
LOL! I almost wish I had after seeing that post.........just to empathise with you
ok... i'm wracking my brains to work out what his name is really!

Hahahaha! I'm tempted to tell you.... but then I'm also tempted to wait and see what you come up with.
We call our lad D, and baby KK, the older one gets called by her real name even though i chose their names so they couldnt be shortened... well maybe not the little one

I'm trying to think what Dud Doo Cup sounds like... so far i've only got 'Buttercup', but doubt even you're that mental...
I used to work with a woman who's kids names couldn't be shortened.......Ian and Lyn
is his name andrew? dud doo ?
Awwww...... I wish I'd had the guts
Although kids call things words that have no resemblance to them. My sister used to remind me when i was a child and she would be undressing i would call her boobies ... helicopters what???
is his name andrew? dud doo ?
Ooooh.... that's his middle name Gyps! But that's not included in the Dud Doo Cup I'm afraid.
So close!
Its not what we think of our kids names but the folk they have to spend years with at school. So maybe a bit of forethought on how they will be perceived with their name in school maybe will help them in regards to bullying etc, like i said- an odd name may cause difficulties for a child that we as parents may not have thought of.
No daft endearing names that have stuck to adulthood........but they have not reached the age of 31 and 34 without being called many a name, some I would not care to repeat
Is it Edward (you have no idea how im sitting here repeating dud doo cup faster and more blurred to come to these ideas.)
To help you out a bit.....Dud Doo is his first name....and Cup is his surname. The Cup is pretty close so you may be able to guess that bit. You ain't got a chance with the Dud Doo I'm afraid.
