What you have to try and remember Ella is that you get in your car everyday and don't think twice. The stats for car accidents are horrendous compared to aircrafts. Hug

I know hun it's just that a plane crash sounds so much more final that a car crash Frowner I know in reality cars crash almost every minute and plane crashes are usually few and far between but it just seems
a whole lot scarier to me.

you are far more likely to die in the car ON THE WAY to the airport than you are in aplane crash

Probably true ohg but it`s the thought of falling throught the air that`s the scary thing. I had a panic attack on my way back from Dubia when I heard what I thought was a funny engine noise. The staff had to pratically hold me down. My mind was racing that I wouldn`t see my children again..yes it was madness but it wouldn`t have happened in a car.

Brazilian Air Force planes have been searching the area since this morning.

Unfortunately Fernando de Noronha is not well equipped to receive these aircraft.

A list of Brazilian passengers was released several hours ago. I don't know about other nationalities.

Unfortunately there are several large radar 'gaps' in Brazilian Air Traffic control, as well as large blind spaces where ATC changeovers are done. Most Brazilians are aware of this, but I don't know if tourists/citizens of other countries are. It's why I don't particularly enjoy flying in Latin America. Frowner

I can totally relate to that Scotty. I had a very frightening flight and my children were with me. I was consumed by fear and the need to somehow keep them alive. In hindsight it may have been an overreaction but I'm now afraid of my own anxiety and frankly don't know how it would manifest itself if it gripped me mid-flight! If I never had to fly again I'd be happy but who knows - there's a beautiful world out there!

Triggs I completely understand. That must have been frightening for you. The need to protect your children is overwhelming. I never thought about myself, just how they would cope without me. It was awful. I`m still scared going on a plane but I do it. As you say, there`s a beautiful world out there. I hope you`re better next time. Hug

I know Deegs. I`ve been thinking about them constantly. These poor people and their families. It`s tragic. Frowner

From what I`ve read so far..they may have went through an electrical storm, severe turbulance..they may have been hit by lighting. Speculation so far.

The pilot radioed for help and they lost contact with him 16 minutes later. What a frightening 16 minutes and more that must have been for everyone onboard. Frowner
Scotty
Where Did You Read He Radioed For Help?

All I've Read Is That He Left Radar Contact Off The Coast Of Brazil, As Was Meant To Happen, But The Plane Never 'Came Out The Other Side' As It Were Near Africa.

In Between The Two Points An Automatic Message Signalled An Electric Malfunction, Which Itself Wouldn't Have Bought The Aircraft Down.

My apologies, I think I interpreted this wrongly..

Copied form Sky News...

The aircraft sent a message at 2.14am GMT reporting an electrical short-circuit, "crossed through a thunderous zone with strong turbulence", head of communications at Air France, Francois Brousse said.

The final contact was made with the troubled plane 16 minutes later.

Croc`s link on page 12 says mainly the same. Do you ever reply to posts foobar? You question yet don`t respond to posts. I don`t mean to be rude but what`s the point in replying to you if you don`t.

I'm confused by your post scotty.
Foobar clearly responded to posts. He replied to a post of yours for instance and others in this thread.
