Well, yes: the "all of the above" option is a definite possibility!

There is something-else worth remembering about Brooks, though: one of the things she's best known for (especially during her time with the NOTW) is a strong interest - some might say "unhealthy obssession" - with paedophiles and child killers. She was instrumental in promoting the campaign for "Sarah's Law", for example. (And interestingly, Sarah's mother is now thought to have been a hacking target...)

Now: is it really credible the that Brooks was completely uninvolved in the investigations into both the Dowler and Soham cases?

News of the world was/is only 4% of Murdochs income,it was losing money anyway as are most newspapers,I doubt he'll be crying into his champagne over it.

By concentrating on the NOTW rather than Murdoch, part of our heritage has been removed. There was nothing wrong with the NOTW per se.

The problem is not with one newspaper, it's the entire culture of the corporation. I hope they  don't get away with this.

It's a very risky gamble. What happens if a big scandal breaks next month regarding The Sun? (I'm not joking here, either: the whole of Fleet St was hacking, and The Sun has by far the closest links to the Police - that's how they got into that mess over Hillsborough...)

And then there's Sky - supposedly the reason for this move. It's already been implied that Sky News ran stories that came from NOTW hacking...

But in all seriousness, I'm glad to hear that this Sunday will be it's last publication.  Although I have no doubt it will be relaunched under a new name very soon.

- Rebekah Brooks offered her resignation last night, but it was turned down.

- NOTW staff think the move is to sacrifice the papers to protect Brooks and the Sky takeover. They don't believe a "Sun on Sunday" will replace them. (Remember that just because a domain name has been obtained, doesn't mean it will be used - it could be just to give them some options.)

- Twitter was shut down in the NOTW offices to prevent the staff tweeting on developments!
