I'm sorry to hear this - RIP Philip
The first time I saw him on television was in 1964 in The Count of Monte Cristo (Alan Badel was Edmond Dantes/The Count) and Philip Madoc was Fernand, one of the three villains responsible for his imprisonment.
There have been other adaptations but it is that one I remember most.
Aww, I liked him. First I remember of him was as Magua, in The Last of the Mohicans on BBC in 1971. I don't really remember much about it though.
