Not read it but going by what is said on amazon it sounds like it does tell the truth and even has acconts from people who survived that day.

When I first heard the words the truth I thought for a second you were talking about that poor quality toilet roll called the sun. The trascripts of the lies told in that are availible online but reading them just makes me mad. I don't know if anyone sued the sun for them but they should have

Kenny Dalglish is to take the lead in staging a charity match at Anfield next month to mark the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough Disaster, reports the Liverpool Echo.

The game – involving legends from the Reds' illustrious past and an all-star celebrity team – will be played on the night of Thursday, May 14.

It is being staged by Dalglish and Liverpool FC in aid of the Marina Dalglish appeal, raising funds for a new radiotherapy unit at University Hospital, Aintree, while also remembering the Hillsborough 96.

It's brilliant, if that's the right word - started reading it last week; it's a real eye-opener but you can't read it without seething with rage and feeling immense sadness at the same time; very well researched, documented and written. A powerful testament to the truth!

Hi Barolo - I am certainly willing to sign the petition - I knew two girls who died that day.

I would just like to ask whether you could outline for me (and maybe for others) exactly what justice will achieve. Is it a simply a case of closure, or are there tangible things that will result from bringing criminal procedings other than making the authorities take responsibility for what happened?

Hi Lucibee, thanks for signing.

Closure would certainly be something the families would welcome after such a long time - thus far, they've been denied this. But, it goes much deeper and I could write pages on the subject. Heatseek (a forum member) posted this link The Hillsborough Football Disaster: Context & Consequences - it's well worth reading and clicking on the numbered downloadable documents.

If you want me to answer further, please feel free to PM me - I'll be happy to answer you.

Thanks again and best wishes! Thumbs Up

I need to bump this. I'm now halfway through Hillsborough:The Truth, by Phil Scraton. Excellent book, brilliant research, very well written. I thought I was pretty clued-up about this 'incident', but this book just gives such a detailed perspective.

Just keep this thread in the public eye please.

Hi Ms G - thanks for the bump! Only just arrived and it was nice to see it near the top of the page! Thumbs Up

The book by Phil Scraton is superb, isn' it? Compelling reading.

The petition now has 9,880 signatures on it - just 120 short of the first 10,000!
