Bliddy morons. Just watching a thing on the local news saying 8 out of 10 999 calls made in South Yorks are for non-emergencies. Then they played a tape of a woman asking for the police to come round to rescue her hamster who'd escaped under the floor boards.

That sounds like an emergency to me!
My sister works taking the emergency 999 calls and it's quite amazing what some people do ring up for....
Bins not being emptied,
Feeling lonely and fancied a chat,
What the number is for the RAC,
Neighbour noise,
actually I should stop there. Needless to say most of her calls would not be classed as a police emergency. It's numpties like that who possibly hold up genuine calls from being treat with the urgency that is required.

awful when people prank call or dial 999 for nothing ,its as bad when people dont move out of the way for ambulances on the roads

Of all the emergency services vehicles I most hate to see an abulance with the blue lights on. It gives me a chill thinking about the poor soul that they are rushing to help.
Idiots, both the people who make the call and the drivers who dont get out of the way. I ALWAYS move my car if I see an ambulance coming towards me with blue lights flashing and siren going, you never know one day you might be in there or a loved one.

During my time at university I worked as a Cable & Wireless 100/999 operator for extra money - it opened my eyes as to how stooooopid the GBP can be.
One of my two favourite incidents were:
Caller No. 1 - hello can we have the police please, there's been a car accident?
Me (as operator required to ask this question) has anyone been hurt?
Caller No. 1 - No but I can't ask the driver how he is as he's unconscious!
well if he's unconscious then he's hurt you bliddy idiot (didn't say that btw)
Caller No. 2 - can we have the Police please there's a row going on.
Me - Where are you? Can you give me the address?
Caller No. 2 - eafclif Road
Me - Caller did you say Heathcliff Road as in Wuthering Heights Heathcliff,
Caller No. 2 - No eafclif Road, Brierly 'Ill
GBP gotta love them

I read about someone who phoned for the ambulance because they were a bit hot.

I've got a bit of an admission to make. . . .
Shh, but I once took my son to A&E because he couldn't even walk with the pain and was crawling round the house.
Turned out he was constipated
I wouldn't care I'd asked him as many times to try the toilet before I took him there. Luckily his pains miraculously disappeared once he had a huge poo in the hospital loos before he was seen by any doctors/nurses.
My FIL rang for an ambulance once because he had a toothache
Oooh it really annoys me, they should be fined at the very least, maybe named and shamed as well
twats..
When I was a nipper, I think I was about 3, I rang 999, I didn't know what it meant. They sent a police woman round to give me an absolute bollocking.
