Although i do have to say, of everything i saw at seaworld after all the bad press (black fish) The Penguins were the only animals that looked pretty sad tbh
squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
we might look sad but we're always happy
squeeeeeee! indeed!!
I spent a lot of time at the penguin exhibit a couple of years ago when I was at SeaWorld.
Thanks, Jen!
I tried so hard to get some pics of them swimming from under the water but they were just too fast!
Nice pictures Jen.
Throw them a fish from me
Naturally, it posts sideways...

Its an unforgettable documentary Jen, really worth watching.
Sad about the penguins... [covers Pengy's ears ] ...they look a bit fat and unhealthy?
Thanx Lori is that taken from the ride?
Roger i watched it on the plane back and it was really insightful, although it made me cry i did take it with a very small pinch of salt, as to me it came across very one sided. I know Seaworld declined to comment but the film didn't show any of the good they do (ie rescues etc) Glad i waited until after id been to watch it.
On the way in i noticed a sign saying No banners/posters and No offensive slogans on shirts (or something along those lines) thinking they may have had some trouble in that department.
as much as I love penguins and getting to see them, I am strongly of the opinion, they should not be held in captivity - there is no need in a modern society for centres like this to show us any creatures as camera people (I'm sure there are women as well as men) and documentaries do a rather good job of showing us how the live in their natural environment
didn't stop me going squeeeeeeeee watching that video mind

Its hard Jen, as they can't simply release them, they wouldn't survive. Hopefully keeping and breeding them in captivity, will be phased out.
Forgive me for asking but how did the killer whales look when you saw them? Did they have that flopped over fin? Was there a big crowd or have numbers dropped at all?
The Whale enclosure is being remade atm, they are making it so the floor of the pool raises (So they can drain it off quickly i assume) so there were no whale shows on, there was a Shamu viewing pool but the queue was huge for it so we skipped it.

Or to rescue trainers being dragged to the bottom? Some of the footage and stories from the film were frightening...
