The way she defended him when he was being asked tough questions over and over again by Herry Nel, and Pistorius couldn't answer him and how she calls time on the days court proceedings when Pistorius starts his crying act.

I fear he'll get away with a lighter charge.

I think the judge must seen to be acting fairly and that OP is under no duress so that the defence can't cry foul and ask for a mistrial..,,she's a specialist in domestic violence so I'm not going to be too quick to judge her...if she lets him walk free then I will start the name calling

The judge is not known for being soft in cases which involve abuse of women. Don't mistake her quiet voice for a weak character. Have you seen some of those looks she gives out when someone misbehaves in court? She's a strong woman.

I think the judge has been trying to ensure that Oscar can't claim he didn't get a fair trial and that's why she ensures he is well enough to continue his testimony.

As far as the verdict is concerned, she will give her judgement on the evidence presented in court. If the state don't present enough evidence to convince her that Oscar is guilty of premeditated murder then he won't be found guilty. Imo, the state haven't proven premeditated murder, but a guilty verdict to Culpable Homicide wouldn't surprise me.

We were, Erin. Even the judge was shocked and has recently stated he had to read the verdict twice before delivering it to the court.

I was one of them erin   still shocked to this day and I blame the jury for being disinterested rather than Jeff Ashton not putting a good enough case up

me too...I thought Jeff Ashton was pretty good, whereas Marcia Clark and Co were crap in the OJ case

Pistorius seemed to be explaining the gunshots as “putative self-defence” – a fear that his life was threatened by an intruder. But under cross-examination, he seems to be switching to an entirely different defence of “involuntary action,” Mr. Nel said.

Legal analysts say that Mr. Pistorius could be creating serious problems for his defence if he is switching his explanation at this point at the trial. The defence of “involuntary action” is usually used in cases of sleepwalking, epileptic seizures or similar episodes.

Mr. Pistorius has used a similar defence on a separate firearms charge, relating to a shooting incident at a popular Johannesburg restaurant last year. He said a Glock pistol discharged in his hands and fired a bullet into the floor without him pulling the trigger – although ballistics experts have said that a Glock pistol cannot be fired unless the trigger is pulled.

a glock CANNOT physically go off accidentally - 1) it has to have the safety taken off 2) it needs pressure from the finger to make it fire

I cannot believe the eejit said - I was holding the gun M'lady but didn't put the trigger when it went off  must have caught my trousers and went off   yeah right and I'm having a cup of tea with some leprechauns

Morning everyone by the way

I wish I was more like Yogi and see some good in him, but I can't. He's a scrawny little sh*t bag, spoiled, no sense of responsibility and I have still a great deal of doubt in my mind that he is guilty but with no proof. I do hope he gets a max for the CH, but I'm doubting he will.

I've not seen one thing to suggest he loved her, no text, valentines card, only his word about a present...I don't think he did, she was a trophy blonde and not the love of his life, I feel much better I've let that go now

so from tomorrow we're on a break till 5th May?

so we finish today for two weeks?

that's what I understood but I'm not entirely sure if she meant we finish today or tomorrow

what I did understand was that she's ordered counsel to work on the case over that period so that she won't have to take ages to reach a decision
