Not sure about your theory. I think in this particular instance, I just find Nel an arrogant, sarcastic twonk!

You are right about Pengy and The Tie though.

And I agree about him doing a Rambo, and don't think the state has done enough to prove that there was a huge row and he shot Reeva in a rage.

I also think he is so desperate to get off on all charges that he is telling porkies and that could be his undoing.

There's a lot of truth in your last paragraph too - I do think he feels genuine remorse about shooting Reeva but he is self-centred, and his main concern is how it all affects him.

but... but... but.... I'm beyond all help

I don't think there's an antidote to what you are suffering from.

If Reeva truly believed there was an intruder of course she would lock the door

The reason for the toilet door is either:

1. If Oscar's shouting had alerted her to the possibility of an intruder, it makes sense that Reeva would have locked herself in.

2. If Oscar was chasing her in a rage and carrying a gun, she locked herself in.

3. (To me the most logical reason) Reeva liked privacy when she was on the toilet. I always lock the toilet door, even in the middle of the night - and there is no threat to me of any sort.

that's not the inference Brunt was trying to make though Saint - he's saying that if a supposed burglar (not Reeva) was in the loo and about to ransack the place why would they lock the loo door?  The fact that Reeva was in there and the door being locked has two possible scenarios - 1) she, out of habit, locks the loo door when she uses it or 2) she ran there in fear of her life?

I've said earlier in the thread here, I lock the door even when I'm the only one in the house - it's just habit and I like privacy in case anyone should come home

Did Oscar know the toilet door was locked? Did he try to open it before shooting?

As far as I'm aware he didn't know it was locked Yogi, he never reached the door close enough before he started shooting from his account.. He said he thought someone was coming out of the loo to attack him, so I'm assuming he didn't find out until after the shooting..hopefully Nel will ask him and he may lie clarify it

Hi Roxan

it's not his story - it's the poorly constructed story that poor Barry gave him as he's responsible for everything that's going wrong with OPs defence

Hope you're having a good day

Hey Pengy

Sorry, I was going OT and talking about his blades when running. He fought for years to be allowed to use them in able bodied tournaments saying there was no competitive advantage, then as soon as he was beaten by someone else using them at the Paralympics he cried foul and accused them of cheating. It smacked of double standards, and his sense of entitlement.

I knew what you meant chick, I was just joking

As a partially disabled person myself, role models like OP are usually held in such high regard when they do well.  Given that in this country at the moment the sick and disabled are being demonised by our government, it's heartbreaking when someone you held up as a hero turns out to be nothing more than a misogynistic thug.  It doesn't matter how much he did for charity and promoting how children especially can overcome severe disability to shine, he will now be forever tainted and all that good work that he has achieved will mean nothing

Reeva's sister Simone 'all the time Pistorius is crying and vomiting in front of us. My poor mother somehow has to endure this day after day. She is being so strong while this is breaking her up inside. She feels strongly that she must be there for Reeva.’

Simone says she feels proud of her mother for her calm and dignified presence in the court.

‘If I was there I would only upset her by crying and storming out,’ she says. ‘I could not sit there and listen to him, and sit through all those adjournments because Oscar is tired, Oscar is emotional, Oscar is crying again
