So if she was meant to be hiding from a man with a gun/bat surely she would have been crouching by the side of the toilet not standing directly behind the door

I put it to you . . . sound like Rumpole of the Bailey LOL

That if Reeva thought there was an intruder she may have been pressed up against the door to listen to what was happening

That's a good supposition Saint and may explain why he was able to hit her with such accuracy - someone correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the first shot hit her right hip?

Yes.

Not watching as you know, but .. if he thought she was in bed and told her to stay there... and she wasn't... how would she know there was an intruder?

He had shouted out to tell the intruder to get out of his house.

ah right, thanks yogi.

Obviously just a very unfortunate accident then.    Honest, m'lady.

I recall years ago when I was married, my hubby got in hours later that he had promised and was pissed up too, we ended up in a huge row and he just wouldn't shut up and go to bed to sleep it off. .he followed me all over the bluddy house as I was  trying to get away from his whittering.. in the end I went in the bathroom, being the only door with a lock, to get him out of my face.

Good job I didn't live in SA

Mind you he still carried on whittering thru the door. .if there had been a  gun in there he may have been the one that got shot

It has to be the case because the other option is that the intruder broke into his house via the bathroom and then locked him/herself in the toilet

Have to agree with Martin Brunt about locking the toilet door - I always do so even when I'm the only one in the house so there is the opening (s'cuse pun) that either Reeva was just in the habit of doing so when she went to the toilet or she closed it in fear - guess we'll never know unless OP tells us and I doubt he will

Not a chance of that .

Listening to him this morning I thought he has a script and is sticking to it .

exactly and which is why to me, OPs assertion that he believed there was an intruder in the toilet doesn't make any sense

If I'm honest I'm surprised that Nel hasn't broken him yet - perhaps that was the reason for the early adjournment today - to let him stew over the weekend and then go at him again??? OP is tougher than I gave him credit for which flies in the face of the 'emotional crying' we've been witness to

I honestly think that's exactly why Nel went for an early adjournment .

OP was well and truly tied up in all his contradictions today.

Can't believe OP wants us to believe that Reeva remained mute when all this mayhem was taking place.

OP got so confused when he was asked the question "Did Reeva scream"?

Which would make sense why she was being quiet, if we believe Oscars story, she thought there was intruders and she was being quiet so they didn't know where she was and that's how the bullets hit her as she was listening at the door

but surely if she thought they were intruders it was because Oscar told her and if he told her, he must have known that she was in the toilet, or at the very least that she wasn't sound asleep in bed?

On Sky news it has been explained that Nel made a significant legal  breakthrough today. He made the point in court that OP should have and could have removed himself and Reeva from potential harm, but OP made the decision to go towards the danger and in that moment OP is transferred from potential victim of a violent crime to someone looking for trouble.

  yep nail on head

Although it's not the cracking of OP - he'll have a hard time on Monday coming back from this having ruminated all weekend

Hi Roxan  How are you?

Exactly - shirking responsibility seems to be a running theme with OP [no pun intended].

It reminds me of the Paralympics when his immediate reaction after one race, was to petulantly badmouth the guy who beat him to gold. He couldn't admit he was simply slower but claimed the other guy had illegal blades. In slow motion they showed the victor's stride rate was simply faster.

Hello there

I agree, I was shocked by his reaction. For someone who fought so hard for blades to be allowed for the Olympics it was a pretty poor reaction, made me think he doesn't believe his own story that they don't offer a competitive advantage.

Good point Roxan.  And it showed his temper too. I thoroughly enjoyed the Paralympic Games - it was held in a lovely spirit. Op's tantrum was the one sour note.

Hi Roxan

it's not his story - it's the poorly constructed story that poor Barry gave him as he's responsible for everything that's going wrong with OPs defence

Hope you're having a good day

afternoon all

I listened to it whilst throwing paint on the walls of my daughters kitchen, TV full blast and aiming paint from 4 metre's isn't a easy task I can tell you

I have a theory  In our sub conscious do we dislike the lawyer that is leaning to the opposite view of us the most..all in all I find Roux to be far more annoying than Nel..Yogi is the opposite and tends to see things more plausible than I do in OP story. Just wondering, because this is far more noticeable on DS than here to be honest...and Pengy can't think straight because she's only got eyes for the tie, that's why she's neutral

I'm still of the mind he was just gung-ho, didn't think rationally and did a Rambo. Nothings been proven to make me think 100% he knew it was Reeva, although I think he's been totally stupid and added bits on to make his story more plausible and this is why he's tripping himself up. I believe he is guilty of all the gun charges against him, I think he told lies because he can't stand the thought of his reputation being tainted, him being a good christian boy

He deliberately went out of his way to kill someone, which he succeeded in doing. He's no excuse, none whatsoever.. I hope he doesn't walk, because I'm sure in his head he feels HE has suffered enough  Because after all he thinks it is all about him and how he's feeling, how its affecting his life...he's not had to account for anything in his life and seems to shy away, shift, blame anyone for his wrong doings.

That's my take on it so far...oh and Yogi

I truly believe he didn't set out to murder her specifically and it's CH but I want to see more evidence, even circumstantial, of a row that led to Reeva running scared

until then I stand by my earlier statement that irrespective of who he thought was behind the door, in his heightened state of paranoia he would have just shot.  I need more evidence of a row

btw your dameship   I can't help liking the tie - I'm a lost cause in that respect

 @ the pic. Hi Dame.

Not sure about your theory. I think in this particular instance, I just find Nel an arrogant, sarcastic twonk!

You are right about Pengy and The Tie though.

And I agree about him doing a Rambo, and don't think the state has done enough to prove that there was a huge row and he shot Reeva in a rage.

I also think he is so desperate to get off on all charges that he is telling porkies and that could be his undoing.

There's a lot of truth in your last paragraph too - I do think he feels genuine remorse about shooting Reeva but he is self-centred, and his main concern is how it all affects him.
