as Nel pointed out, if that's what happened to the melon, we get a good idea what happened to poor Reeva

I just didn't expect it...I hope Reeva's family were prepared

don't think they were - her cousin is inconsolable apparently

.

A lot seem upset by Nel's aggressive start but what do they expect?  He needs to prove OP murdered her so of course he'll go out (excuse pun) all guns blazing - he's already got him on CH in my book, but he wants murder so has to use every tool, however unpleasant, in his arsenal.

I can understand Nel doing it, I think OP's been treated with kid gloves all his life, hence the refusal to take responsibility for anything that he's done wrong..

He was proven to have lied at not hearing the phrase before, not knowing about the video and then admitted him saying the words.

But a fine line must be tread not to garner sympathy for OP, and I do think Roux has made this case more about OP than the victim..and I can understand that too

I believe he is guilty of culpable homicide, because discharging four bullets means he meant to kill whoever he thought was in the toilet, but I have not been convinced that he is guilty of the premeditated murder of Reeva.

I do think he lied about shooting the gun through the sun roof of the car but I actually believed his version of events in the restaurant.

The more I have heard of his heightened perception of crime, the more I think that his version could be true and that he freaked out, and believing Reeva was still in bed, shot at who he thought was a burglar.

For the record, Mr Yogi thinks he is as guilty as sin, but predicts Oscar won't be convicted of premeditated murder. He suggested I might be gullible (but said he meant it in a nice way). However, I pointed out that I am a much better judge of character in RL than he is.

I am not following this as closely as you lot and just pop in each day to read all your comments.. but from what I have seen on the news my feeling is that the BIB is more to do with him struggling to come to terms with how what he did to Reeva is now affecting his life .. all I get is poor me poor me from anything I see about this..

I don't think he planned to murder her before that night ..I do think they had a row and he killed her in anger tho.. which is kinda premeditated if you reach for a gun in an argument

Still got loads to catch up on the thread just saw this bit and I thought nah he's all about himself and is only sorry he killed Reeva cos of his current predicament..

Mount Olympus *Olly*

seemingly according to twitter reports, June Steenkamp knew he was going to do it as he wanted the world and court to see just what Oscar had done - I suspect she's seen these pictures before but internally she must breaking inside. I guess it's purely wanting to get justice for her daughter that is keeping her going.  Lord help her when this trial is over as I think she will crumble

well at least that makes me feel a little better  and I agree, she's holding it together for bow but that could all fall apart.

I totally agree with that Olly

my version/story hasn't changed from the bail statement????  so it's the lawyers fault if stuff wasn't in the statement that should have been and I suppose for any discrepancies therein.

He's now trying to put forward that he wasn't medically fit to answer the bail statement isn't he?

Nel is right - answer the question not what you think we want to hear

and so it goes on...it wasn't me it was him. I'm waiting for him blaming Stipps for the shooting

Nel is using the same tactics that Roux used on the witnesses...only they weren't on trial for killing someone

see I had heard rumours of him losing his temper at athletics meets but I also saw a lot of articles of him with other double amputees (particularly children) showing how you could achieve anything and on those occasions he always came across as a polite young man showing how you can overcome a disability - he to me was inspirational for disabled people and more so for disabled athletes.

He has fallen very far from grace in my eyes

I think that's where my dislike came from Pengy...at the minute Nel is tying him in knots in a calm way

hardly Sky news' fault that those photos were shown - they are surely linking from SA telly?   As her Dameship said, it caught everyone by surprise which I think was Nel's intention

A) How do we know he couldn't hear a noise in the bathroom if he stepped onto the balcony?

B) Didn't he say the fans were on when he brought them in? If they are like the ones hubby has, they can be noisy, and if he had his back to Reeva, he wouldn't have seen her get out of bed.

Edit: I went out onto the balcony versus I brought in the fans which were sitting half in the bedroom, half on the balcony - nitpicking Nel. (Which is what he is paid to do).

I would agree with that...if he didn't keep shouting as he got nearer the toilet door...surely his voice approaching would alert her he was also in the bathroom. The bathroom is tiled, she would know instantly that he was in there with her I would have thought.

It can be difficult to judge how close someone is solely by their voice, and how was she to know the footsteps (I know Oscar was on his stumps) were not the burglars?

A) because the bathroom window is on the opposite side, he said a noise from inside the bathroom Yogi,

B) Because he'd just spoken to her, I find it totally improbable that he wouldn't have seen, heard or not spoken in anyway when she got out of bed and he was up. It could have happened that way...but like much else I'm finding a lot of it hard to believe Yogi
