I can well understand that, he's an odious little man  Roux hasn't been paid for two months...mind the legal experts wages were a waste of money, Joe Soap could have done a better job

I noticed UA won't pay the outstanding 10 million - water of a ducks back for him - sent it to taxation to get it reduced before he has to pay I bet - wonder why the bill went to UA in the first place - being a family member doesn't automatically mean you're responsible for a relative's bill surely - I could probably understand sending it to Henke unless of course Roux thought UA would just pay up?

My pooter is on it's last legs - I'm going to have to buy a new one although I can't really afford it  and I've just accidentally hoovered up the up arrow on the pad  and not for the first time have I done this

I found her feckless, I though she was being careful about any appeals ...she then left the door wide open for appeals whilst she is enjoying her retirement

Babyshoes - seems they remained 'friends' after their relationship finished - seems he had a type as Edkins, Taylor and Reeva were all blonde clones of each other   Why would he keep that collage so prominent if he was no longer in a relationship with her and was in a new one with RS?   I can understand him keeping it but why not lock it away?

heard about the bedroom door the other day because people are wondering why this stuff was not brought in by the State????

she does seemed to have been an omnipresence in both Sam and Reeva's relationship but he's the one who should have limited it when he knew it was causing problems.  The fact that he called babyshoes every time he had a row with Reeva and possibly Sam speaks volumes imo

I have no clue, maybe because they had no proof...but it does suggest there might have been a row and that I am convinced of and even if OP is to be believed it shows a large amount damage around the home and why?!?

I have read this

you have to remember the police in SA are paid a pittance so are easily corruptible.  They are apparently very light fingered hence why OPs watch went walkies   mebbe he should sell the others to help pay for Barry's bill

I'm starting to believe that Judge G was right - wouldn't have mattered what evidence the State brought in, Masipa never moved passed the fact that OP admitted he shot RS and she swallowed his story hook, line and sinker

I have a feeling this case will rumble on for ever - I really hope the State do appeal and go for DE as I've always felt that's where this case was going.  It hasn't done the SA judiciary service much good either.

According to Barry's book, the case took part in the newish part of the court as the old Victorian beautiful building was damaged in a fire in 2010 and it's never been repaired.  In fact, it's where homeless people sleep

I do to Pengy, although evidence that could have been used can't be in an appeal, but I do feel Masipa either misunderstood the law or altered in a way that left it open for an appeal...yet another enigma

NPA to appeal Oscar sentencing, conviction - report

Cape Town - The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has announced their plan to appeal the conviction and sentencing of Oscar Pistorius, according to reports.

According to Eyewitness News the NPA made the announcement on Monday afternoon.

Journalist Alex Eliseev quoted the NPA saying their prosecutors are preparing the necessary papers in order to be able to file within the next few days.

According to reports the NPA is set to the appeal the conviction based on the question of law.

The Paralympian, was sentenced to five yearsin jail for killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

On Sunday  the NPA denied a report that the appeal against Pistorius's conviction and sentence will start next month.

"It is not true," spokesperson Nathi Mncube said at the time.

He denied a Sunday Times report that State prosecutor Gerrie Nel would discuss the matter with National Director of Public Prosecutions Mxolisi Nxasana on Monday.

Nxasana would reportedly decide whether to appeal.

According to the report, the appeal process was scheduled to start on 3 November.

quoted from the article -

"The appeal will be filed directly at the Supreme Court of Appeals, a spokesman for the prosecution said, instead of the high court, the level at which it was tried. The move will expedite the process and raise its profile, according to Kelly Phelps, a senior lecturer in public law at the University of Cape Town.

Nathi Mncube, spokesman for the prosecuting authority, said the prosecution was preparing the legal documents and will file them, formally starting the appeal process, by Tuesday Nov. 4."

“The appeal on conviction is based on the question of law. The merits and the demerits of the NPA’s argument in this regard will become evident when we file papers for leave to appeal,” the state prosecution said in its statement.

This means that the court won't re-examine evidence but will rather hear arguments on whether Judge Masipa’s interpretation of the law based on existing evidence was wrong, according to Ms. Phelps, the academic expert.

Mr. Mncube, the prosecution spokesman, confirmed that there will be no new evidence brought to court.

The appeal process in South Africa is complicated and the prosecution’s move to initiate it Monday doesn’t mean it will end up back in court.

First, the Supreme Court has to approve the move to appeal, a decision based on whether it is likely that a different judge would have reached a different verdict from Judge Masipa.

If the move to appeal is rejected, the prosecution may appeal that rejection. Ms. Phelps said that the decision to accept or reject a move to appeal is normally made within 21 days of the formal appeal launch.

If the appeal is accepted, then a single Supreme Court judge will hear the appeal case."
