he died of an heart attack at 37 Yogi, it took them 45 minutes to get an ambulance to him and the nurse/first aider on duty was treating him for asthma...even though his cell mate was telling telling her that he was having an heart attack and the warder was shouting to get paramedics there...it was a shambles.

My cousin is still perusing a court case for an apology and the prison service and ambulance service will not issue one. she even met with the Minister for the Prison service  She is not after compensation she would't get it anyway as she is not listed as his next of kin, his own parents are still classed as that after having him put up for adoption at 14 .

Modise says on visits to UK, US, Brazil, Africa etc, they too had probs w cell phones, drugs, sharp objects, gangs, overcrowding

Modise says UK courts were satisfied with the evidence presented about jails with regard to Shrien Dewani

Modise says DCS were successful in extraditing three people to South Africa who fled after committing crimes here

: a message must be send to society that you can't just shoot somebody and get away with it. must pay

Is Shrien inadvertently responsible for improving prison conditions in South Africa? may be thanking - or cursing - him

Modise: I can confirm confidently that if the accused be sent to a correctional facility (jail), there ARE facilities

tragic all round but I'm not surprised at the closing of ranks - I hope she pursues it till she gets answers - just because someone is a prisoner, doesn't mean they are not entitled to be treated with dignity, and promptly when they are ill

Beyond a joke! Although I remember a situation in reverse, when my dad was admitted to hospital (A&E) with a serious asthma attack and the staff started treating him for a heart attack. Luckily my uncle was with him and screamed at them that it was asthma not his heart!

I hope your cousin gets the apology she wants but unless negligence was proven, I'm not sure she will.

I'm not sure I believe the rosy picture of SA prisons being painted, and I think judgey will be well aware of the true situation.

I'm not either Yogi, but I do believe he should be punished and not have bail conditions implied

Barry Roux asks about a man named The General. There are titers in court - some of these gang leaders are well known around the country.

Roux mentions gang leader known as 'the general'. Laugher in court. Modise: "If you are head of a gang, you are known as 'the general'."

Roux asks if Modise knows the head of the 26s gang - Khalil Subjee, The General. Modise confirms Subjee stabbed Clive Derby-Lewis.
