Obviously, his reactions each day in court will vary, depending on the testimony being given. Surely that's only natural? If he sat in the dock, unmoved by anything he heard, I'm certain he would be accused of being a heartless, unfeeling git.

The graphic descriptions of Reeva's injuries were bound to trigger horrible memories for him and his behaviour was in keeping with what would have happened to me, if I were listening to graphic details of injuries I had inflicted on someone I had cared for.

Dame, many family and friends remove themselves from court before graphic details of their loved ones' death are given, because they know their reactions might be similar to Oscar's.

How have I ended up defending Oscar Pistorius, when I'm not even sure he is innocent (of the premeditated murder of Reeva)?

Yogi19

I ended up defending the first witness for most of the reasons you stated Yogi. The first witness and her husband have nothing to gain by lying or changing their evidence to suit, OP has.

I honestly think for the most part its an act, you said that you can't believe the first witness and her husband because their evidence appeared staged and rehearsed, I'm totally convinced so is OP's, that does not mean to say I believe he deliberately went out to kill Reeva. I do know he will have been told how to dress/act and compose himself in court. He also changed his statement... it is known he isn't likely to take responsibility for his actions anytime soon.

I'm going to miss loads this morning, I have childminding duties, so I will try and catch up tonight on youtube and the thread on DS, which I like to lurk and read

Goeie mÃīre

I had to laugh at Roux pulling up Vermeulen for the use of the words *my version* who was then forced to change it to *my findings*  - Vermeulen is an Afrikaanse speaker (his Engleesh is bloomin' good mind) so I can understand his sometimes not using what we would consider correct terms.  Then Roux in his cross examination uses exactly the same term

Mebbee because SA accent is so monotone, I keep thinking I'm hearing Parker from Thunderbirds when they say M'Lady

Ooo and pictures of Reeva were accidentally show which shocked some in the court

It is the really horrible accent that is preventing me from following this trial closely. Call me shallow but I do love a bit of Hollywood glitz. Tuning in to the 'Casey Anthony Show' every day was like watching True Movies. I'm afraid I'm finding it hard to concentrate fully and at times hard to understand.

Good points and very fair minded Yogi  you'd be good on a jury.

There is a possibility that, once I've heard all the evidence, I might be joining your camp.

and there's a possibility I won't

I can't explain how I feel about it, I do think his story is plausible..although I do think if it was a dreadful accident he's been very economical with the truth after the event. Self preservation maybe, I'm not sure

In some ways I can understand why - South African prisons are terrible places and I don't think he'll cope if he is incarcerated.  It would be hard enough for an able-bodied person but for someone disabled it would be a nightmare as he wouldn't be allowed his prosthetic legs as they could be used as weapons so he'd be confined to a wheelchair and therefore more vulnerable.  However, unlike Reeva, he's alive

I totally agree Pengy, I really don't think he should be just free to walk away though. Accident or not, he's getting on with life and allegedly moved on to a 19 year old new girlfriend, if its true its a more than a bit thoughtless. He shot to kill Reeva or an intruder which is still a crime as neither were threatening his life.

There's still another four years of this case to go at the speed they are working through the witnesses and the few minutes they are in court  I could completely change my mind before its finished.

The forensic evidence was really interesting today. The bathroom window was open that endorses the neighbours' evidence about the screaming.

The bit that shocked me was the fact that the keys to the loo cubicle were found in the keyhole on the outside of the door. Also, the blood splatter evidence indicates that there was more blood over more areas of his house.

Have to say though, Roux is bloody brilliant, in a sort of brain-numbing way.

I missed a great deal of it today Xochi, I am confused over the key though  and I did hear the bit about blood drops in the living room...surely he didn't carry her through every room! changes mind again

Finally, people are watching the same trial as me.

I read somewhere that when Oscar knocked out the door panel, he reached through for the key which was on the inside of the door, and was then able to open the door from the outside. That would explain why the key was found on the outside of the door.
