personally and keep in mind I'm smaller than him on his stumps   I sometimes use the edge of the bed for stability to help me round when I look out the window of a night time to see who Milo is barking at - to balance I put my palm down as just grasping the end of the bed is no use - this is why I am questioning the veracity of what Dr Versfeld is saying and what OP said in his testimony

I think this is always a State tactic because unlike the defence who get to know before hand what the State's line of questioning will be, the defence get to tailor their evidence to refute it so confusing the witness and getting them to concede points is all part of the game although I'd not like to be a witness cross examined by either
