Versfeld: Oscar relies on sight to see where his legs are. This explains why his balance is worse in the dark. BB

not sure I believe this - I think over the years he would have adapted light or no light

I'm not sure that I disbelieve it, Pengy. I know that my balance isn't as good in the pitch dark and I have fully functioning legs.

and I'm disabled with knees that give out a lot but I can still function fully in the dark when popping to the loo of a night in the dark and I go to the loo a lot

Well I bang into walls all the time.

Actually, my legs aren't fully functioning if you take into account my arthritic hip.

I have arthritic knees and don;t have a problem with balance in the dark...well, apart from when I've had a drink

 I don't drink, so I can't blame the booze.

ha!  so Gerrie is saying that OP could and probably should have fallen while bringing in the fan, as it's a process of turning around and he didn't do it in the bath room either!

Another defence witness who seems more mandated to keep OP out of jail based on what he said in the box rather than assess him objectively.

He could have used the frame of the patio doors to help him balance.

I said they over-egged it at the beginning, it goes against OP's own testimony

Barry will defend me - and as I have a dodgy hip, I'm not in a position to be disablist.

good point

Unless he was leaning against a wall for balance.

Also, in certain situation, an adrenalin rush allows people to do things which they could never do normally. Eg, people who have lifted cars when their child was trapped underneath.

but, if he had to hold on to things to keep his balance,,,why did he not feel Reeva wasn't in bed when he went for the gun...he would have surely have had to hold onto the bed to get the gun out of the holster

Did he go round the bed to get his gun or reach across it? If he went around the bed, then he wouldn't have necessarily felt Reeva in the bed.

he stated quite emphatically that he moved around the bed and held onto it for balance so Dame is right - why didn't he feel Reeva as he made such a thing about her being on his normal side of the bed and him being on the other side due to his shoulder injury

this is why people have been saying OP damned himself from his own mouth - he just didn't know when to shut up and give a brief answer

the gun was under her side of the bed Yogi,,,his version

But if he only used the edge of the bed for balance, it's unlikely that he would have felt whether Reeva was in the bed or not.

I'm not even convinced he was on that side of the bed Pengy...or in bed

If Reeva slept towards the middle of the bed, he wouldn't have felt her when he held onto the edge of the bed.

Edit: I agree that Oscar didn't know when to shut up, and if he is convicted it will have been of his own doing.

he'd have had to held right on the very edge of the bed not to have felt her and then that wouldn't have provided the balance he claims he needs when walking on stumps!

I often use my fan as a walking aid instead of my waking stick - in fact I have even written a poem about my fan   troo I'm not making it up - did it for creative writing

We need to read this poem.
