Think I tried this on C4 and it got deleted so I'll have another go. Following on from the 'accent' thread, I call my trousers pants. I'm wondering if this is a North East thing and what does everyone else call theirs?

Trousers are trousers and you wear pants underneath them.
But then pants are also known as underpants - is that an American thing? Either way, I'd be seen in public wearing trousers but never (accidents permitting) in my pants.
Thongs are Australian flipflops.
