it's only a small joint, i just wanted too know if it would taste like ham  would it be best too roast or boil it?

I'd like to know that too Aimee.....I haven't a clue how to do mine, but yes, it will taste like ham....it's lovely!

I've found this year to be the easiest prep wise - now beginning to wonder what I've forgotten...

You boil it, then you roast it - tis utterley delish

If your gammon is approx 2kg in weight then I'd recommend loosely wrapping it in foil and baking it in the oven.  Rub a small amount of olive oil on it - add 2 tbspn of water, wrap and let it do its own thing.

200oC for 20 mins and then turn it down a bit.

Poach/steam it in something nice - a medium cider, for instance.

I've been baby sitting grandsons all day but ........dining rooms done - all bedrooms have fresh bedding - two quiches made and 2 dozen sausage rolls (a made up recipe but ......................bloody lovely).

A little while ago my neighbour and daughter (who are devout Catholics) came in with a lovely cake and all stuff to make a Christingle with my boys (I agreed to this on a drunken night out with them last Saturday) I'd forgotten. It was lovely even though the nine year old is a bit too cool for school at the mo.

Tomorrow, just the bed to change, meat loaf (aka stuffing) and nails - it's a dawdle this Christmas malarkey   All you need is an invite to dinner out.

Why do we do so much before xmas ? I too am the same, got tomorrow all planned, last bits at the shop, change bedding, hoover, dust every room, wash kitchen and bathroom floors.. prep veg.. then get a large glass of wine and set the dining table for the next morning..... plonk down on the sofa and give ourselves a big pat on the back.. !!!    Then someone shouts out 'I'm hungry' ! nope.... find something in the fridge urself.. I am off duty !!! 

Then boxing day... the WHOLE house looks like a bombs hit it !!! 

Cosmo Towers was cleaned to within an inch of its life yesterday so it'll just be a tweak and vac from now on in.  Everyone is now walking around in scrubs and wearing plastic gloves   Nobody dares breathe for fear of

T'is is all done as done can be for now.  Tomorrow I go to the hairdresser's and then I'll be prepping the veg and anything else that can be done in advance.  I'm not flapping;  suppose that's because I've done it a 100 times before and the day sort of sets its own agenda.

Cosi, I'm with you, it all gets down.... just go with the flow..... I have just added a 2 mile walk with the dog to pick my car up if the weather is good, thou that is subject to change as to how I feel tomorrow, an impromptu drink at a friends house = car left there... I look forward to setting the table for xmas day... 

Cosi .............I've done Christmas for the multitudes for the last thirty years ....................i still get caught out though. I'm sort of hoping this year may be different I'm sort of half way ahead! I know I;ll still be up at 3am on Christmas morning though!

tidy round downstairs...   

pick up the girl (10pm)...

actually that's a lie... that meat loaf is one of the two things I cook well (but chilli doesn't go that well with a turkey dinner)

I used to love Desperate Dan and the way the cow pies did still have those horns sticking out.

Just wrapping now and have realised that one of the pressies from my mum hasn't gone down for the big 'exchange' last weekend. Had to ring my sis and explain - one and a half hours later I'm off the phone - I've lost interest in my wrapping - sitting back with a glass of wine! I will get there in the end
