When off on hols when do you start packing?

Me normally a few weeks before putting stuff bought new for the hol in a case plus any others bits that wont be needed until we are away....

I'm going away on Sat for a week... 6 of us... I'm packing for 5 and only booked it last Thursday..... i literally have today and tomorrow (busy all day Thursday and Friday I'm nipping to town cos none of my clothes fit!) while entertaining 3 kids to get it all sorted and I'm freaking out ever so slightly

If it's a foreign holiday then at least 2 weeks before.  Because no-one else in this house knows how to pack for themselves I have to pack for 4 people.  I pack anything that's not needed before hols and then the week of the holiday I repack everything and add anything that needs adding.  Even the day before I am still working from a list and adding more crap.

If it's within Ireland then about 3 or 4 days before because I'm not so stressed about forgetting things then because they are easily got here.  I know most things are easily got in Spain etc aswell but they always rip the arse out of the prices of things so I'd rather I make sure I take them all.

I *think* I love holidays and love booking them and thinking ohhh great but in reality they freak me out.  I get stressed and am usually in tears for the 2-3 days running up to it because it all gets too much.  Every holiday is the same, I am a bag of nerves about flying and know the first few days are usually ruined with kids falling out, partner getting moody because of kids falling out, me trying to keep the peace and then falling out with partner because I think he should be more adult about it all instead of sulking and then that ends in an argument and only after that do we really enjoy it then .  My eldest doesn't seem to do well on holidays, he's a bit too shy and ends up in a mood the whole time because he doesn't want to join in with kids stuff or going anywhere.  I usually come back from a holiday and say it was ok but not worth the thousands of pounds it cost.

I've spent the last couple of hours sorting lots of piles of clothes out all over my bed... I 'think' i might have sorted the little ones stuff out pretty much apart from pj's. 1 down 4 to go!

I really can't believe how panicky i am about it  I'm dreading Friday incase i cant find any clothes for myself in the shops the day before i go!

We decide what we will need and then hang 'em altogether. Usually we pack the night before or if it's a later train, the same day! I tend not to worry so much about clothes as much as iThings.

We are taking the grandsons to Butlins in a couple of weeks!

I've just finished booking a long weekend in t'Fatherland for Oktoberfest. Just for me, alone, all by myself Like.

When I used to go on holiday, if the flight was an early morning one I'd pack the night before, if it was a late afternoon I'd start packing about an hour before I was due to leave the house.. don't see the point in packing weeks before, I'd forget what I packed.. doing it just prior to leaving I'd pop shoes in first then take stuff from the wardrobe look around for any other stuff I may need  then add toiletries last. . job done..

plus stuff sitting in a case for weeks will crease even more.. my case was lost once and it took a month to get it back... the wrinkles were horrendous

I'm not so much 'packing' as you've all said creases!! But I did need to work out what I was taking for everyone... I make a list of what I've organised for everyone as I go along so 1. I know I've already sorted and 2. Know if I need to buy a few bits cos these kids grow so quickly! 7days worth of clothing with no washing machine and a few 'what if the weathers like this...' Outfits for 3 kids takes some organising

Good news is I'm sorted pretty much. I now know what I need to buy and what I've already sorted iut for everyone
