Noooo. Can't you ask then when they next come over? I'd break in if I thought they were starving. Frowner
s'all a bit odd i rent the house out now and i'm not there much, just seems a bit harsh with all they are coping with that some one like me, shoves their neb in and assumes they haven't thought about her pets.

Next time you see them pass on your condolences and offer to look after the pets until they find an alternative. If they don't turn up in the next day or so then you HAVE to phone the RSPCA. They may be unaware or simply don't care but if your neighbour cared enough to keep them then I'm sure she'd be horrified to know they weren't being cared for Hug
