I always fancied having a large star but I didn't post enough on the CH4 forum.  I had about 9500 posts by the time it closed.  So close...

for some it became a race to get bigger/better stars and the quality of posts could be utter ****

I thought those who wanted the biggest star usually went mental in the Games Forum for a month.




I had star enveh in the early days when I first joined but I quickly realised it would take forever to get a big star so I kinda stopped caring so much, but I must admit to feeling a bit gutted that by the time CH4 forum closed I was only 500 posts away from a big star.

Anywoo, I was thinking about putting in a suggestion to have the Karma Stars added to this forum.  I'm just wondering how unpopular the idea would be.  I think they just add an extra little bit of fun to the forum experience.

I'm sure some people must have got RSI from posting like mad in the games forum to get the stars

LOL, I can't remember the Karma levels but I think I had one large silver one.  I thought the Karma things were a bit pathetic and frequently used to put down 'newbies'. 

I found it a little embarrassing how many posts I fired off to C4 (as Ugetmi) in around three years. 

Who knows, all that time typing crap into forums only for my words of great insight and wisdom on Big Brother and its housemates to be deleted at the push of a button could have been spent writing a great novel or a challenger to the Harry Potter series!

Some star-covered types did lord it over those with hardly any. But there were also chippy types who whinged every time someone disagreed with them that they were only doing it because they felt more powerful with all their stars..

I don't think newbie bullying would be an issue, as we don't get new members on this forum.

The problem with having the stars over on C4, were the constant put downs from some of the people over there.  Always having sly little digs and sometimes not so sly digs - at least over here we don't have to put up with that

We have our post counts written under each of our posts.  I don't understand how having stars as well would be such a problem.

You'd have had a single medium sized star right now.

less than 50 posts = new user
50 posts = 1 small silver star
100 posts = 2 small silver stars
250 posts = 3 small silver stars
500 posts = 4 small silver stars
750 posts = 1 small gold star
1000 posts = 2 small gold stars
1500 posts = 3 small gold stars
2200 posts = 4 small gold stars
3000 posts = 1 medium silver star
4000 posts = 2 medium silver stars
5500 posts = 1 medium gold star
7500 posts = 2 medium gold stars
10000 posts = 1 large silver star

can't remember how it wen after that, but I think you needed 40,000 for the 2 twirlies.

I don't think my debating style's changed much but I'm not so combative in my opinions on the merits of BB housemates these days and try to be a bit more conciliatory.  I tend to vent my political spleen elsewhere so that side of me is not so apparent.

Yes, I suppose the new posters did sometimes complain about being picked on when it was often their views that were the cause but from my perspective, as I posted loads of crappy stuff really quickly my post count shot up in no time!
