I'm icing and decorating my god daughters Christening cake and it was 11 years ago since I did my wedding cake so my question is do I put the apricot jam between the icing and the marzipan? I have it between the marzipan and the cake but was wondering how the icing sticks to the marzipan...?

Wish I never said I'd do it now

Any help would be much appreciated as time is running out and I'm getting my knickers in a twist!

What kind of icing are you putting on, LB? Hubby says if it's Royal Icing, you don't need to add the jam
LOL Yog - I had just launched into a complicated explanation re how royal icing will stick to the marzipan etc, when I realised that it could be fondant icing ( I think thats the one) which may need something to stick it to.

h noes conflicting answers!!! It's royal/regal icing Yogi
if it is royal icing then it goes on top of the marzipan which is stuck to the cake by the jam. The royal icing will harden and stick to the cake.
Don't forget to put a teaspoon of glycerine in though as it will be rock hard and you won't be able to cut it or eat it.

Ah yes that sounds about right. Royal icing is something I'm too scared of doing lol. I bought a packet of regal icing (fondant) and will be rolling it out...

Thanks for your help

Thanks everyone else espesh Rawkey!

*dashes back to kitchen to continue getting knickers in a twist* I might be back with more questions later...
