I wanted to get into the series but it always clashed and I used to forget to record it.

I loved the first series....but missed the second. Was a cracking period soap opera.

If you see it repeated on any of the Sky channels do watch it, its a cracker, the casting is good, the acting is good and Jonathan Rhys Meyers is reckoned by all to be top totty

I watched one episode of this but was so appalled I could not watch it again.

I will do - I enjoy having a series to look forward to, I think I've seen it in HMV, I'm not sure.
sqigg, something else we have in common apart from our devotion to the Fredster
Do you go on the IMDB site to discuss it? I can send you a link if you haven't heard of it. It's where everything Henry VIII and The Tudors prog is discussed. I have watched both series and got them on DVD. JRM is so good in it, and the acting overall is superb. Especially Natalie Dormer, she was so good as Anne Boleyn. I heard that Joss Stone was in this new series playing Anne of Cleves. I saw the advert for it last night and I'm delighted it's back with series 3.

I was going to post this last week, I love the series and best of all I now have sky HD so will be able to watch it on BBC HD channel at the same time it`s on BBC2. I know it`s not factually correct and, if I`m honest, I don`t like the way they`re not going to make HenryVIII get fat and old but the series as a whole is brilliant entertainment. I understand Joss Stone does very well as Anne of Cleves.
Joss Stone is Anne of Cleves? This I have to see

Rejected for being too ugly. Well, well.

Yes I agree Natalie Dormer was perfect as Anne. Kittenish and scheming. I don't know about that site, yes please could you do a link?

I feel a bit like that. I love history and I don't like it mucked about with too much. I know it's a bit a retentive, but I prefer series like the one with David Starkey.

I read a selection of books about tudor history, you can get a balanced viewpoint that way but for me this series is just pure entertainment.

Because the historical accuracy was way off. A drama is a drama but people pick up bits of historical info while they watch such dramas. If such a drama led people to read up on the real Tudor period, that would be OK, but I suspect many people would take this series to be an accurate representation of Tudor life.

Can't stand his politics but Starkey is a brilliant historian. And he's brilliant enough to leave his politics out of it. (Mind you, Schama is sexier!)
Oooh great! Thanks for the heads up squiggle - love that series

That is exactly how I feel. Next weeks Radio Times are trying to point out the accuracies in the series, but personally I would prefer to watch one of the older BBC serials about the Tudors.
I feel very strongly about this, as the Tudor period is one of my favourite periods in history.

Oh I completely agree about him as a person, but I love his thoroughness. Mind you, I'm a bit of an anorak, which is probably why I don't like the dramatisation. Schama is good too, but I saw him once on QT and was really disappointed with a lot he said, don't ask me, I've forgotten now.
I agree there are alot of inaccuracies in the series, but I still enjoy watching it.
Tudor period is one of my favourites too

I'm confused now, I followed the link and registered, its with the Internet Movie Database and I can't see anything about Tudor history? Is it me?
Historically it's a pile of pants and I would just shout 'historically innacurate' and 'That didn't happen' at the telly to often to bother.
But I understand why people find it entertaining

Can't wait. Sadly i'm the only one who likes it in my house.
Ha ha ha the advert down the bottom is Tudor costumes for sale from eBay no doubt in case I want to dress up while watching it

Oooh me too!
Its already been shown on American Tv. I downloaded it, but havent watched, as I would rather see JRM in HD!
I am completely at a loss as to why that link would not work. I have it in my favourites, so I just got it up and copied the link at the top.
The best thing to do is to go to the IMDB site, which is www.imdb.com, and type in "The Tudors" (2007), into the search engine. You should get to the site for The Tudors, and then register. They are a very knowledgeable lot on there and the discussions can be quite heated, but you can have a really good debate about the subject. I hope you find it squigg.

She wasn't actually. Maybe not Henry's usual type but the reason he took against her was because she recoiled in horror the first time she saw him not realising who he was. What male ego could cope with that - and especially one as huge as spoilt little brat Henry?
Anyone here watching Desperate Romantics on BBC2? If you like the style of The Tudors you might like it.
Here's a link...
That Gabriel Dante Rossetti is a very naughty boy.

Has it been on Irish tv shar? Lucky you. I know it's been shown on American tv already and they post about it on IMDB all the time, saying series 3 is great. It's all mostly filmed in Ireland too, isn't it Shar? I know the Irish Film Industry sponsors the making of it, but it's made with mostly American money.

Hi TS .... It was shown here earlier this year and finished maybe about 2 months ago ... Yes, it's filmed in Ireland, which is a great for the Irish Film industry and there have been a lot of Irish actors in all three series ...
