Hey everyone

Last night I had the worst migraine I have ever hd in my life. Although I was not sick I was retching and I collapsed with the dizziness when trying to get up the stairs to bed after DH got home last night.

Anyway, I just wanted to ask people who are more experienced with debilitating migraines if they are still groggy for a while afterwards and, if so, what's the best way to shake it off? I feel like I'm still a bit drunk like I've drunk really heavily the night before. I can still feel the feeling of compression in my skull but the pain is now only slight.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated as I still have two little ones to look after and so sleeping it off as I would like to do is not really an option!

Hi LF, I suffer from migraines and also have 2 littles ones to look after so the best option of sleeping is out for me too. I usually find that drinking sweet tea helps for some reason and drink as much water as you can. The sun gives me migraines so if it's sunny try to stay indoors however if it's not so nice today try to grab some fresh air. Maybe hype your kids up telling them it's movie day and grab a few films and treats and plonk them infront of the TV while you try to rest. Hug Migraines are awful so I hope you get to have a bit of relief today.

Years ago I had an "Aura" migrane.First time it happened I panicked, thought I was going blind. My vision went blurry, grey at the side, then the sparkling lights appeared(Fortressing) I went to the doc the next day who referred me to the optician. He himself suffered from Migraines.Oddly enough I had no headache, you don't always get one with an Aura migrane.Only had two attacks in my life.

i get migranes, thankfully they are few and far between these days. The sun also triggers mine. I always try and describe my head after a headache as...'i dont have a headache but my brain still hurts from where the migrane was'. It does wash you out before and after. The worst migrane i ever had was about 13 yrs ago. i couldn't bear to talk and any noise was unbearable, was so ill didnt even care i was that ill if you know what i mean. i just went to bed and curled up for a whole afternoon and night.

I think you'll just have to get through this one,but start making notes on what you eat and drink , is it the time of the month etc,to try and find out what triggers it.Wine can in some cases also cheese.Menstruation is also another trigger.Your GP will be able to give you tablets to take as soon as you feel one coming on,they don't work for everyone .You should have some investigations done though just to make sure you are not anaemic or like GMA have B12 problems.

Devil Worst headaches ever Gypsie. I woke up in the middle of the night and couldnt stop crying which made it worse. My OH didn't know what to do with me because I wasn't even thinking straight and couldn't talk for about 4 hours. The doc said once you experience one it's likely you will suffer again and I am dreading it. I wanted to go to A&E and evrything at the time Laugh I just wanted either some strong pain relief or someone to punch me to knock me out. Disappointed
