Thanks everyone.

Like I said, I normally use stylised flowers for my designs and it's for a golden wedding cake so I'm hyper-nervous that it's got to be right and look beautiful.

I've got to make three and then some freesias as well Eeker

its brilliant, and i love freesias, so why not post a pic if the completed cake when you have finished it.

I will post a picture of the cake when its done - it's due the 2nd of September so I'll have it finished (hopefully) the day before. It's a bit more traditional than most of the cakes I do but that's good as it'll be a nice addition to my portfolio to show that i can do the old-fashioned stuff as well if you really want me too!

Wow, you're clever. I'm a cake decorator too so I can appreciate all the time you have put into making the rose. Love the tinge of pink in the centre Clapping

The tinge of pink is somethng I saw in a book by Alan Dunn. The man is a genius! He also advised about putting the mixture of green, white and yellow at the base of the petals to make the centre 'glow' and I think it's very effective and made the flower look very realistic. I only hope my client appreciates it!

Alan Dunn is fantastic with colours. I've always wanted to do one of his workshops but never managed to. He's a geordie just like me! I once had lessons from Linda Pawsey (another very talented cake decorator) on modelling figures in sugar and cold porcelain.

Looking forward to seeing the finished cake Thumbs Up
