Max ÂĢ50 for my children's birthdays, with the exception being my eldest's 18th.

But a ÂĢ200 'phone if they usually break them? Eeker

My eldest was hopeless with looking after 'phones - really clumsy - but has bought her own since she was 16. She now has one she bought from Sainsburys for a tenner, and is happy with it. She can call and text, and that's all she needs a 'phone for anyway, she says. I agree Big Grin

Only as a reward for good behaviour, cleaning up, passing exams etc, not just as a whim especially if they keep getting broken. I am a bit strict with my kids, they have to understand the value of money. God i sound like an old pain in the bum !

Nah you sound like a very good parent Thumbs Up Clapping
Aw thank you Hug

Never bought your kids a present, not even Christmas?

NOPE, I have NEVER seen them or spoken to them or provided ONE penny for their upkeep, and I have no intentions of changing that situation now, Big Grin

If she brought the phone herself, she would take more care of it, my step daughter broke all the phones we gave her till her dad said your buying it yourself this time and she hasn't broken it since.

true Thumbs Up i've decided she's not having the money off me, i'll give her so much and she'll have to put the rest to it

Depends on how many kids you have. I only have one, and as he is the only grandchild on my side of the family he is pretty spoilt. For his birthday he wanted a nokia music phone thing, my mum was due an upgrade on her contract so she got it for him.

she's the only one and the first grandchild on both sides, so she's always been spoilt and now we are reaping what we have sowed Big Grin

It cost ÂĢ175.

He put all his birthday money towards it and I paid the rest. About ÂĢ40 I think it was.
