(OT) HELP!!! Is it the Gas or the cooker???

I'm too scared to cook tea now!!!

The oven keeps going from a healthy big flame for a while to barely there for a while and then back again.

Not that I usually sit and watch how the flame behaves but there was a funny smell.

I've turned it off and we are having sandwiches for now.
