People get the press they deserve.  Christ, even I - having heard the BBC talk about his 'difficulties' over the weekend - found myself wondering what has gone on.  I still have no idea.

British public - your friends and colleagues - are interested in who celebrities are fukking.  And will pay money to know.  The tabloids feed that -know it's not that simple btw - circularity and all that - but it suits my post to not acknowledge it.

That is true and fair enough Bateman - but to do it the weekend before an England qualifier, knowing he needs to be at the top of his game, achieves nothing and makes me wonder whether these journalists are actually Swiss.

Yep, he's an utter twonk, no mistake, but a brilliant footballer. I know how the press operate I just hate them for it in this case. I would like to get back to the serious business of pretending we have a half decent footy team again knowing they'll prove me wrong.

I'm happily delusional where footy's concerned

Right, so what exactly is all this Rooney gubbins about then? I heard that he shagged a ho while Coleeeeeeeeeen was preggers. Over the weekend he was stressed about it and Fabio wanted him mentally assessed. I then heard the full England squad are flying or have flown out for the game (I haven't called LHR to clarify which flight)

He hasn't denied it so he probably did. The English press decided to spray it all over their front pages which will be a big help when we play the Swiss tomorrow. I'm normally your upstanding moral type of chappie, but right now all I care about is we win our most difficult game of the group, away to the Swiss.

I fully appreciate we'll win f*ck all anyway with Crapello in charge but I'd like to dream for a while before reality rears its ugly head.

I often wonder, if our footy players were earning a mainstream salary of say 80-100k a year (for being part of the England squad) - would there be this hunger from the press to bring them crashing down at every given opportunity?
Probably not, they're all spoiled brats, protected from the normal more difficult route through life we lesser mortals have to tread, but Rooney still has hunger to win and BAGS of talent. I just wish he wasn't so f*cking stupid

Oh, cobblers.
Talk about shooting the messenger.. Rooney is the architect of his own downfall. He was worse than useless in the World Cup and nobody knew his free-range todger had been up to its old tricks then. Nobody made him go to prostitutes while his missus was pregnant, any more than they made him do the same when they were engaged.

If Capello had any balls he'd have dropped him already for playing like crap, so the question of this story 'ruining' England's chances wouldn't even arise.

NOTW knows its market. If people weren't interested in lapping up this kind of sleaze, they wouldn't write about it.
