Not daily, but regular Nod
I had to go and pick up my box of ampoules from the pharmacy today, which my GP will be injecting into me at the rate of about one a week for the next six weeks.
Also, a huge batch or iron pills, which will bind my bum up very nicely Red Face

Ask for ferrous succinate instead of ferrous sulphate if thats a problem Smiler

Believe it's PA. I have all the classic symptoms, apart from the mental confusion (although would I know? Crazy)

Thanks, everybody, it IS a real relief to know it's nothing more serious. Although the doc did say, if I don't respond to treatment, they will have to test for anything underlying that may be causing it.

So pleased that one of your health problems is easily treatable Demontoid Hug

Quite a few people I know have had B12 deficiency at one time or another, probably because a lot of them of vegan and it's hard to get B12 from a plant based diet.

You can try eating a lot of Marmite if you like it, and leafy green veg will help with the anaemia but make sure you take vit C with it as it aids absorbtion.

What is the shoulder problem? Will you have to wait long to get it sorted?

Veggie, I LOVE Marmite and do eat a lot of the "right" stuff, it just seems that my system doesn't absorb it very well.

Hopefully, the injections will kick-start my system. If not, then more tests Roll Eyes
My sis in law has this too and has to have injections hun, when she does go she is ok so don't miss any cos then she feels naff all the time. Good luck hun, glad it sorted for you now. Thumbs Up puts mind at rest at least.

You must have been feeling pretty rough.
Your numb hand might improve with your injections as B12 is vital for a healthy nervous system.Hope you feel better soon Hug

Hope you're ok Demon; I was diagnosed with a B12 deficiency 6 yrs ago - pernicious anaemia, PA and I had to have daily injections for a week, then weekly then monthly;y and now I have them 3 monthly for life. I used to get terrible migraine and felt sleepy and could have slept in the gutter and my hands and feet would go numb and don't even mention the thirst! Eeker - ironically my iron count is high despite being a vegetarian. Because my B12 count was so low (54 and is should be in the 100s)they reckon I was born without the ability to produce the intrinsic factor necessary for B12 to be absorbed via the stomach, hence the injections. I do feel so much better now that it's been 'discovered' which was by luck really - when my injections are due some of the symptoms do start re-occurring but you know it'll be ok again when you've had your dose - I'm usually first to the nurse the morning I can have my injection! Big Grin... Hug

Your symptoms sound far worse than mine. I don't get migraines or thirst, just extreme tiredness, clumsiness and the tingly hands and feet. My GP said my B12 level was right at the very bottom of the scale, which would explain it.
If they can't find any underlying cause, he reckons it will be booster jabs for me, from now on. I can live with that. Nod

The jabs will soon sort you out, you'll be amazed when they kick in Demon Thumbs Up - after my very first injection my mouth felt like velvet the next day! The injection does make you feel a little flushed for 10 minutes or so but that's the nature of them, also the spot where your injected feels sore now and then - I have mine in my left arm, but it's a very small price to pay - hopefully you'll soon be on top of the world again! I hope so. It's a weird thing to say, but it's the first time in my life I've actually looked forward to having an injection! Crazy Laugh

Thumbs Up Ninja Even my hubby notices changes in me and asks 'is your injection due?' - they really do make a difference, all for the better!

Yay - all hail the little pink ampoules of B12. They're waiting in my bag for me to take them in to surgery tomorrow Clapping
Weird system. My GP doesn't keep them there, so I have to go to the pharmacy for them, then take them in for him to attach a needle and then jab Crazy
I'm looking forward to the effect. Having read up on the symptoms and realised I have most of them, I now realise I've been feeling like crap for a while, without noticing.

Some good news though - apart from that (and my twingey shoulder probably due to years of computer work) I'm fit as a flea. Nod

Reminds me - I saw the most bizarre advert on telly last night, while me and OH were eating our tea. Group of "ladies who lunch" types sitting around a cafe and talking about their latest fave new product: STOOL SOFTENER Red Face
